Brooklyn, NY – May 3, 2024. The National Student Nurses’ Association (NSNA) is pleased to introduce Ethan R. Slocum as the 2024-2025 NSNA President. The election results were announced on April 6, 2024, during the NSNA 72nd Annual Convention in Lake Buena Vista, FL. Mr. Slocum is a student nurse at Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU), Cleveland, OH.
Currently, Mr. Slocum works as a patient care technician in Cardiovascular ICU at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. Mr. Slocum is also the president of the CWRU Undergraduate Student Nurse's Association (SNA) and serves as a BSN student representative for the Dean's Student Advisory Committee at CWRU Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing. Prior to his election, he also served as the 2023-2024 Health Policy and Advocacy Director for Ohio Student Nurses' Association. In addition, he was Vice President of Event Coordination for the CWRU Undergraduate SNA (2021-2022). Mr. Slocum is a recipient of CWRU Dean's High Honors.
On his election, Mr. Slocum expressed, "I feel extremely honored to have the opportunity to serve our members as NSNA president, and I am so grateful to our delegation for vesting their trust in me."
As NSNA President, Mr. Slocum wants to work towards a culture in nursing where we treat ourselves with the same respect we do our patients. "I want to create pathways, establish resources, and clarify communication to better support NSNA members in their growth as individuals, students, and future nurses," he said. "I aim to make my relationship with our delegation personal by finding ways to connect directly with our students and support their needs. I want to increase the accessibility of NSNA's message through exploring new modes of communication to increase student engagement and recruitment."

As NSNA President, Mr. Slocum serves as chair of the NSNA Board of Directors and Executive Committee; as a member of the NSNA Finance Committee; and as ex-officio member of the Foundation of the National Student Nurses’ Association Board of Trustees.
