Juneteenth
Be honest. Did you know much about Juneteenth before a few years ago? It was a pretty obscure day, especially in the North. It was mostly celebrated in Texas where the news of the Emancipation Proclamation was finally announced. In Cleveland there were a handful of people who celebrated the day in the African American Cultural Garden. My sister Debbie and I were two of the few who attended way back when.
Highlights included the singing by opera singer William Clarence Marshall and recitations of the Emancipation Proclamation by young people. DJ Silver B was on hand and community elder Luther Smith led a libation ceremony. A highlight for Debbie and me were the Peace in the Hood youngsters led by Amir El Hajj Khalid A. Samad.

Albanian Cultural Garden
A quarter mile down the road in the Albanian Cultural Garden, Albanian Ambassador to the United States Floreta Faber was given a tour of the Albanian Cultural Garden in Cleveland by former Cleveland City Councilwoman Dona Brady and leaders of the Albanian community.
The Ambassador was amazed at the beautiful garden dedicated to Albanian heritage and said she had not seen anything like that in the country or world. Sometimes we take these things for granted as we drive by. It takes a visitor to remind us of what we have.

My single friend always complained that they only sold eggs by the dozen and he didn’t need that many. Then he found a store that had them in 6-packs. He was so excited that he bought 2!
Did you hear about the two psychiatrists who passed each other on a walk? One said to the other, "You're fine, How am I?"
I was walking my dog and a cable repairman was on my street. He asked me what time it was. I told him it is between 8 am and 1 pm.
Now that it is beach season a friend says that the worst thing you can hear when you’re wearing a bikini is “Good for you!”
Two antennas met on a roof, fell in love and got married. The ceremony wasn't much, but the reception was excellent.

Postscript: June 23rd is my Mom and Dad’s first anniversary together in 30 years. I used to tease her because she still celebrated even though Dad died 30 years ago. Happy heavenly anniversary Mom and Dad.
