Kiddush this week is sponsored by the Etz Chaim Community
Please note that the "Yeshiva Week" vacation begins this coming Thursday and many of our regulars will be away. Please help the daily morning and/or evening minyanim if you can.
After the Splitting of the Reed Sea, Bnai Yisrael broke out into joyous song of praise and thanksgiving. We recite this Shirah every day when we say "Az Yashir.." This is also why the Shabbat has a special name "Shabbat Shirah."
In one very moving passage, the Children of Israel say "Zeh Keili V'Anveihu." This means "This is my G-d and I will glorify Him." Halachikally speaking, we learn a great lesson from this. Chazal teach us that this means we should beautify our Mitzvot by going the extra mile. We purchase a nicer Lulav, we give more Tzedakah and we enhance our Shabbat.
It is one thing to just "DO" the Mitzvot. It is entirely a different thing to glorify how we perform our Mitzvot.
