As I write these words, I am gazing at the beautiful Mediterranean Sea on a summer- like day in Tel Aviv. It is supposed to get rainier and cooler here tomorrow, but for now, I am happy just to be outside without a coat.
I am about to conclude another most successful mission to Israel where I am amazed that I could even learn more and be inspired more by this land and her people.
When Bnai Yisrael were fleeing from Egypt and the sea was ahead of them while the Egyptians were behind in hot pursuit, Moshe cries out to Hashem for help. The immortal response was “Why do you cry to me ? Tell the people to go!” And so they did.
In a sense, I have felt that same sentiment here this week. This is a nation (no matter how backwards they are in some areas) that just goes. If there is a problem, a solution is figured out or simply created. If there is an obstacle, a way around (or over or under) is found. We don’t whine (I mean we really do) we act.
I look forward to seeing everyone in Shul this Shabbat when I report on my visit.
Shabbat Shalom.
