Shabbat Shuvah. A Shabbat of return.
Though the Shabbat takes its name from the Haftorah - "Shuvah Yisrael" - we may tend to say Shabbat TE-Shuvah, which is a Shabbat of repentance.
It may sound a little like
tomato
-
tamato,
but that is exactly the point. Repentance is returning. We work on ourselves to return to where we belong, to whom we belong and to the path we should take.
Shabbat is the perfect opportunity to do so, as we can unplug from the hectic world and focus inward. On this very first Shabbat of the year, let us make every effort to return to the ideals of our sacred tradition. Let us make the most of this wonderful gift.
Shabbat Shalom and Gemar Chatimah Tovah
