Rabbi's Message
This week we will conclude Sefer Shemot as we read the last Parsha that deals with the myriad details of the Mishkan. Parshat Pikudei presents us with an accounting of all the donations and skills that went into constructing this Holy project. Perhaps many of us are thinking of accounting during this time of the year. April 15th is not too far away and many of us have already been gathering the various documents and forms we need to prepare our tax returns.

Judaism has an accounting system for individuals as well. While we do not look at our earnings and expenditures, we do engage in a process known as "Cheshbon Hanefesh." This is a spiritual accounting where we examine ourselves through honest soul searching with the goal of self improvement. It is far more complicated than sending forms over to your accountant.

We need not wait until Elul or Rosh Hashanah or Yom Kippur to file this return. We should be thinking of this each and every day.
