A GREAT MOVE OF GOD IN MARINGÁ:
THE  ALTARS FULL WITH PEOPLE GIVING THEIR LIVES TO JESUS
CARNIVAL MARCH 2019
Maringá, Paraná Brazil

SO MANY TESTIMONIES...
During the carnival week in Brazil, it is common for churches to host retreats and special services. We spent 4 days in Maringá, as we preached and ministered over 30 hours in 7 services for the Evangelical Community Church of Maringá. Truly, words, pictures and video cannot capture the atmosphere of the move of the Holy Spirit in an environment of hungry hearts. The retreat we preached at had 200+ young adults at the camp meeting event. The evening services began at 9 pm. and lasted well past midnight and on the last night till 2:40 am. On Sunday night we ministered in the main church for their regular Sunday night service.

We encountered a generation marked by God, hungry for an authentic move and touch of the Holy Spirit. The anointing in the air was so thick. Demons manifested and people were set free in the atmosphere of worship and preaching. The ability to stand was difficult to bear at times as the weight of the Lord's Glory was upon us all.
Visitors came to see and experience this move of God as word spread about what was happening at this camp meeting event. Many with no church background came and encountered the presence of the Holy Spirit. With weeping and spiritual hunger, all were struck prostrate before the Lord. A sight of beauty as over 200 young adults surrendered all to Jesus and were marked by the awesome power of His presence. Below are a few testimonies that will encourage you and we believe will bless you mightily!

-----------

Breaking Strongholds

Thursday night was the opening meeting. It was a  powerful night that set the spiritual tone for what was to come. Friday morning one of the leaders pulled us aside and said many of the youth during the night hours after the Thursday night's service were seeing visions of snakes and felt strong oppression on them. So the first thing we did on Friday morning was to address this phenomena and teach about the power of the blood of Jesus and the power of deliverance and the protection we have in Christ. About 15 youth who had experienced these visions and attacks during the previous night were surrounded by the young adults present in this morning meeting as we prayed a healing prayer and a spiritual covering as a family of God. IT WAS SO POWERFUL!!!

Stronger Together

Above Photos: Each service was unique and special. Seeing the ferver and desire for more was captivating. These youth prayed over each other and were stronger together.

Freedom in Jesus

Above Photos: The guy on the left was our driver. The Guy in the peach shirt was wearing this shirt on the left during one of the services. He was manifesting a demon and many were praying for him with no visible success, as he was not in control of himself. Led by the Holy Spirit we removed his shirt with the skeleton on it and gave him another one (the peach one). At that exact moment he was set free and he came to soundness of mind. In front of all the people we asked him, what had happened to him? He could not remember a thing! His countenance completely changed as the darkness that possessed him fled. He said he had been bound in drugs and alcohol and was numb to life. This night this young man was completely set free. Praise God, "He who the Son sets free is free indeed!" (John 8:36)

Above Photo: Now the guy in the blue shirt was playing the drums and he too had on a shirt of a similar nature that represented skulls of death and bondage. Led by the Holy Spirit we asked our driver to quickly find an extra t-shirt for us and we called the drummer out from behind the drums and had him change his shirt. At that exact moment the power of God hit this young man and he went down to the floor. The new shirt given to him that the driver randomly found for us said this...

"I'm a stranger here, Heaven is my home"

Notice the imagery on the new shirt, a man in the clouds holding his fist up in victory with a the cross. So powerful! Changing from a shirt full of skulls and death to one of life and victory! This young man was lit on fire with the power of the Holy Spirit when he aligned his life with Jesus that night.

This became a great teaching moment as the Holy Spirit illustrated for us all to see, the powerful hold that evil has in our lives when we associate with works of death and destruction.  But when we come to Christ and live a surrendered life in Jesus we walk and live in freedom and victory!

A Story Made in Heaven!

Above Photo: THIS WILL AMAZE YOU!

The first time we were in Maringá was a little over 1 1/2 years ago, when we preached at the Shekinah Church. It was a powerful service full of healings and salvations. At this carnival camp retreat this girl (one with the sunglasses in the photo) comes up to us and says you probably don't remember me, but I want to share with you what happened to me that night at the service at Shekinah Church 1 1/2 years ago. "That was my home church and I came up for prayer. My hips were disjointed and I had severe skeletal issues all my life as a result of being molested s a child. The doctors said I was bound to this condition my whole life. I was limited in movement and carried significant pain in my body. That night, God completely healed me. Since then, I'm free of pain and all my joints and hips are completely normal and in alignment."  Wow!, What a glorious testimony to hear!

Well, about a year later we ministered at the prophetic conference in Maringá at the Evangelical Community Church. The young man in the blue t-shirt (in pic above) was there. In one of the services he committed his life to Jesus. He was deeply struggling and made the decision to surrender all. I remember this young man clearly even though it was a while ago, his tears and cries at the altar could not go unnoticed. That night he was profoundly changed.

During that conference we gave a prophetic word that their was going to be a merging of fires in the city. After that, 3 months later the Shekinah church and the Evangelical Community church merged. Wow, imagine that!

Now lets fast forward to this weekend's Carnival Camp Meeting. During the meetings we did some spontaneous role playing.  n one of the sessions we were talking about Samson and Delilah. Randomly from the crown we picked this young man in the blue shirt to be Samson and then randomly picked the girl in the sunglasses to be Delilah. Now during one of the scenes, the girl playing Delilah had to pretend to be seducing Samson by stroking his hair, as she was trying to pry information out of him. The laughter was insane. What was happening in this spontaneous impromptu acting moment? The girl was so shy and embarrassed. We said, now tell Samson how you love him and that he is the one for you. Laughter broke out and these two were as red as a tomato. Okay, I said, something is happening here. She said, "it was suppose to be a secret."  When the two churches merged together they had met and they have been secretly dating. Oh how the Holy Spirit knows all things. This was a moment I wish we had recorded!
Guess what? A few days after this Camp Meeting we got a message from these two that they are now engaged to be married and that they would like us be be at the wedding.
We love what we do here in Brazil. Seeing all that the Lord does! Beyond description!

Carnival Week
SUNDAY NIGHT SERVICE
20+ people Came to Christ!

Above Photos: It's hard to count in moments like this, but easily 20+ people came forward to give their lives to Jesus. This always amazes us. One of the things about evangelism and being a guest preacher is that people bring friends and family to church to hear the Gospel, and in Brazil, they love to come hear english. What a great evangelistic tool!

What in the world is happening in Maringá, Brazil ???

This was our 3rd time (March 2019) in Maringá, a southern city in Brazil. Each time while there, we have experienced greater realms of Glory and outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Our hearts are connected to this place. From the very first time we preached in this city,  we felt something was birthing here and the desire that God wanted to do something great here has never left my spirit. I see the markings of a city wide revival birthing here. A revival that is not contained in the walls of church but spread to impact a whole population, where the name of Jesus becomes known and made famous to all . Please keep this city in Prayer. We return again in August 2019 for a Prophetic conference that we are preaching there.

The Holy Spirit is always looking for places where people authentically have surrendered all for a move of God, for revival and for spiritual power. As our hearts are drawn here, we are ready for revival in Maringá, Brazil.

A PROPHETIC VISION...
Pastor Cleber from the Shekinah church in Maringá who is now part of the Communidade Evangélica Church, told us that the day before we arrived for the Carnival Camp meetings here last month in March, he was in prayer and had a vision. He saw us together with him doing a crusade in the city. Hallelujah!   We are ready Lord! Prepare the soil, sow the seed, the rain is falling and the harvest is coming.

Testimony Highlight

When we were at the pastoral transition service last month in Vinhedo, we ran into the pastors from Dourados (14 hours away) where we previously had a 3-day revival meeting back in November of 2018. The pastor's wife said, "remember the young lady that could not have children? The doctors said it was medically impossible. At that service God touched her womb. Shortly after she got pregnant and now they are expecting a baby. "

Then she said, "remember the mute boy that got healed? He's talking non stop. It's truly a miracle."

PRAISE GOD for these encouraging testimonies!
Passing the Torch
Campinas and Vinhedo, SP Brazil
We attended two services in two different cities where new pastors were taking the helm. It's a time to recognize the season of faithfulness from the past and embrace a new season in what the Lord is doing.

It's a great blessing for us to be part of what God is doing as we are connected here in Brazil with the community of faith.  We have worked closely together with both these churches over the past years and we have strong relationships with the new leadership of both ministries and we are excited to continue on together to support and bless them in anyway we are able.  Please keep these two amazing churches and their new pastors in prayer.

Débora's Column

I never know how to start, or what I want to write. Never! I just sit and start typing and somehow (I hope) my thoughts begin to unravel. It is hard to try to describe things and to try to convey a clear message. Life is so different for us from month to month. Sometimes we are in a totally  different place, trying to write about the previous month, but it is so special to be able to sit down and reflect on what happened.
March and April were like another whirlwind. We got back to Brazil, had a couple of days to put some things in order and then traveled to minister during carnival. Mike already shared some of the highlights here in this newsletter. It was amazing and exhausting! We  ministered 7 times in 3 1/2 days... crazy! When we got back to Sao Paulo we went straight to the hotel where Mark, Bella and Luca were staying. It was soooo nice to have them in Brazil. A couple of days later Sophia and my dad arrived and then a week later my mom came. Family is the best and to have them all there and to celebrate my dad's birthday with so many friend s and family was a huge blessing!
We missed Gigi and Isaac, but they were busy in California getting ready for their April 27 wedding. Yes, we have another daughter getting married!
Life is full these days, and so many milestones have happened. I just thank God for His love and care and His goodness.
We also ended up going to Daytona Beach unexpectedly due to my father in law's heart attack, but he is doing better and we were able to have some precious family time with Mike's side of the family. In the midst of the uncertainty, and sadness, we felt God's presence and saw His hand at work. He is a good God!
Back to Brazil we finished the last of the documents requested by the government for the Sozo Mountain project (that was so much work!), and now we wait. God has perfect timing and we are excited about what is ahead.
We are in Redding CA this week in total wedding mode. We couldn't be happier to welcome Isaac to the family. We are so looking forward to seeing Gigi and Isaac start their life together.
The family will start getting here tomorrow, so its time to get this party going!
As always, thank you guys for loving and praying for us. It really matters!
Much love,

Débora
Orphan no more!

LOOK WHO WE RAN INTO...

Above Photo:  Remember this little girl?  We ran into her as we entered the church for the Sunday night service in Maringá. Back in August of 2018 we preached in the Prophetic conference here at this church. We had a special prayer for the orphans of Brazil. There were over a 1,000 people in that service and as
we were led by the Holy Spirit we stepped off the platform and picked up a random child, who happened to be this girl.  We prayed over her as a representation of Brazil's orphaned children (pictured below). Well, after the service a woman came to us and said that this little girl was in the final stages of being adopted by them. Wow!  That's so amazing!  Well here is this picture above (as of March 2019) her adoption is final!!!!
PRAISE GOD!

NO WIMPY PRAYER...

Above Photo:  During a time of worship that Débora was leading, a young boy came up to pray for her.  No wimpy prayer here, this boy interceded with POWER and AUTHORITY!

Fear gripped my heart...

Above Photo:  My mother Elske and father Richard with our daughter Isabella with their 1st great grandchild Luca at the Advent Hospital in Daytona, FL where Richard was in recovery.

I remember being in our apartment on Sunday March 31st, here in Brazil when we got word that my father Richard was having a heart attack. I was instantly stopped in my tracks as fear gripped my heart and tears flowed. I went into prayer immediately asking God for healing and more time. "Lord, please give him more time."

Débora and I sent word out to many of our prayer partners around the globe to be praying for Richard.

On Monday Richard's blood pressure was extremely low. We booked a flight from Brazil and Tuesday night we arrived in Orlando. Our daughter Giovanna took a flight from California and our daughters Sophia and Isabella along with baby Luca took a flight from Kansas City.

The girls arrived in Daytona before we did and went to the hospital. When the girls walked into the hospital room and Isabella put baby Luca on the bed by Richard, seeing his great grandson for the first time, his low blood pressure immediately went up. I don't see any coincidence here. Its the power of love and family. We started to see Richard progress and stabilize and after a few more days in the hospital Richard was released. After spending a week in Florida we flew back to Brazil.

We don't hold tomorrow, only the Lord knows the number of our days. I can remember the fear that gripped my heart when we got the news about Richard's heart attack.

As a family,  we came from many places near and far. My brother Reinhard came from Washington and my sister Carla and niece Sierra who  live close by came. The strength of being together and loving and caring for each other is God's gift. It's called family. It's precious and we should never take it for granite.

Just this past Sunday night (April 14) were were in another city for a meeting with the lawyer for the Sozo Mountain Project. That night we visited a church in town that we preached at 5 years earlier. The worship leader came to us and said, How's Richard?  "What? I said.  Yes we heard about his heart attack and our whole worship team interceded and prayed for him."  I went home thanking God for the family of God and the selfless prayers of the saints.

Extra Tidbits...

Above Photo:  It was great to have our kids (Isabella, Mark and Sophia) and grandson (Luca) come visit us in Brazil.  We had so much fun taking them around. Here we were getting to pend a few days in at the beach. Precious memories indeed!

Above Photo: Having our grandson Luca here in Brazil for a visit makes our hearts full. Being together at the beach for his first time in the oceans sand is icing on the cake.

Above Photo:  Overlapping the kid's stay, our parents Décio and Marilda came to visit us. Décio celebrated his 71st Birthday in Rio Claro, Brazil which turned out to be a two-day party (that's Brazil) and family reunion. Friends and family came from all over to see them. Some they had not seen in over 25 years.

In the picture above, Marilda got a special gift from Décio when we went to the mall in Campinas. #allsmiles

Happenings with Sozo Mountain Children's Home

GOOD NEWS!

We had our final meeting with the Sozo Mountain lawyer on Sunday April 14th. The documents are now ready! The Lawyer will travel and take them to Campos do Jordão on Monday April 22nd and personally submit them to the government.

This is the second attempt as the 1st filing was returned back to us with requests for additional documentation.

The lawyer thinks within 60 days, barring no more requests by the government, we should have legal status for the Sozo Mountain Project.
Missionaries of the Month

We are honored and so grateful for our home church family back in Olathe, Kansas. Church of the Harvest. We can't say enough good things about our pastors David and Tracy Frech. They are some of our greatest encouragers. They understand missions and have established the church with a heart geared toward missions, evangelism and winning souls for Jesus globally.

In the month of March, they have honored us greatly as missionaries of the month.

Knowing that we are covered in love, prayer and support is what keeps us going here in Brazil.

Thank you Pastor David and Tracy and all of our Church of the Harvest family.
