 4pm Sunday Service

What a beautiful church family! This simple country church is off the dirt roads in a rural farm community. The service started at 4 pm on Sunday. This gives people the opportunity to walk home before it gets dark. We miss-read the service time, being that it was in military time it said 16 hr (4pm). Well, Débora read it without her glasses and understood 6 pm. At about 5 pm we got a call, "Are you coming?" Talk about a panic! Luckily we had just arrived in town (a 4 hour drive) and were visiting some friends nearby. Thank the Lord we were close! We made it to the church and they were lovingly and patiently waiting for us. What a GREAT service! 3 people gave their lives to Christ, one of which was the pastor's son. This certainly was a beautiful moment.

We are not Christian because we are born into a Christian family, but a person chooses to be a Christian because they make a decision to give their lives to Jesus Christ. What a beautiful moment for the pastor, his wife and son!

Prayer Changes Things

We met this woman recently at a birthday party. She came up to us and said that when we preached at her church over a year ago, the Lord put us in her heart. She wrote our names in her book and prays for us everyday. She said she prays that we would be effective to do all the things God has prepared for us and to be blessed in doing so, knowing that we are away from our home and family.
Being here in Brazil on the mission field presents it's own challenges.  Reading the monthly newsletters may give the impression that life is easy here. Actually, what people don't see are the sacrifices, struggles and hard work that goes into all the things happening. So many things happen behind the scenes that are not reported. To accomplish all these things we truly rely on the power of prayer.
So we would like to say THANK YOU to all of you who pray for us. Finances are crucial to what we do here, but before that, its the power of prayer that is fundamental to the evangelism work here in Brazil. We rely on that more than anything else. Knowing that the Lord has put us in the hearts and prayer life of not only this woman, but all our supporters back home in the States, makes us immensely grateful.
Revival Service at the Farm
Monday Night

11 Salvations

Praise God for this amazing night under the stars at Biro's farmhouse.
Every monday night the place is open for whoever is hungry for more of God. We had a great service. What a great victory as the angels of heaven rejoiced with us in the countryside as 11 people made decisions for Christ.

At the end as we had just dismissed, the Holy Spirit gave us a Word of Knowledge about a person suffering from severe and intense chest pain. We took the mic back and described that it is almost to the feeling of death, very intense and painful. "You shall live and not die..." Psalms 118:17. A woman came forward saying that the night before she had passed out from severe chest pain. She said she felt like in her mind something was telling her that she was going to die. And during the service she had this intense pain in her chest.  We prayed and the mighty power of God hit her.  She testified that she felt something lift and she could deeply breathe and had no more pain. Praise God!

Testimony Report
Assembléia de Deus Gideões
Campinas

Photo: Pastor Marcelo Santos

Back in August we had a great Service at the Assembléia de Deus Gideões church in Campinas. We always love to hear back from pastors about what the Lord is doing. Below is a translated message we received from the senior pastor Marcelo Santos.

"We received Pr Mike and his wife Débora Borchardt in our worship service, God in the opportunity and instrumentality of his son, used it to bring us a word about God calling Moses by using a bush, ministering to the church a Word of alignment and revival, and passion for the glory of God. Our testimony is that in that service people heard and understood the voice of God. We are living a glorious revival because after that service we have doubled the number of volunteers serving in the church. God also worked miracles, to His glory, a woman arrived with an intense headache and stomach pain and should not have been at that service, but when she arrived back home she sent a message saying that all the pain disappeared and that she felt the Lord touch her in that service; another sister who had had Lupus,  feared that the disease had returned because she had a lot of pain in her body, including not being able to move her neck; in that service the pain in her body was all gone and the results of the tests after that service were NEGATIVE for Lupus and for  God's glory she has felt nothing else. A person with panic attack syndrome has been delivered to the glory of God. We pray that the Word of God would continue to be ministered through them and that the Lord would continue to use them tremendously.

Oramos para que a Palavra de Deus continue sendo ministrada através de seus filhos e que o Senhor ia continue usando tremendamente.

Débora's Column

We are all over the jet lag and getting into a new rhythm here in Brazil. It always takes us about a week to recover from all the things we have to do before we leave the US, the travel and then all we do when we get back here. I feel like we are getting a little better with the back and forth
 with every time though.
I am once again amazed at God's timing and how He puts people in our lives to create connections and life long friendships. We recently felt led to attend a home group meeting from a local church. We did not know anyone, but while we were there a couple come in late. They had just returned from the airport and the husband, who is a comercial airline pilot, was scheduled to have flown out that evening, but was unable to go on his scheduled flight due to weather. They drove back to Indaiatuba, where we live, and decided to still attend their home group. There was an instant connection between us. The husband speaks great english and we stayed talked for a long time afterward. They invited us to their house a couple of days later, and there we met a pastor and his family from a city in the south of Brazil. Another God connection. When we started talking about what God has called us to do here in Brazil, the pastor's wife started crying. She said for a long time she had been praying about events and ways to reach their city and didn't know how to even begin. We will probably be visiting them in the near future to see what God would want us to do there. It is so awesome to see the hand of God at work!
For SOZO, we are still waiting on some documents from our lawyer to finalize the paperwork for SOZO and then we can go to Campos and file the paperwork with the city. It is exciting and terrifying at the same time, but I know we are called to do this and that God is able to do what seems impossible to us.
On the family front, my cousin is getting married next week so my mom just arrived a couple of days ago and my dad is coming in a few days. I'm so happy to have them here and to enjoy some family time.
We have a lot of things going on in the next few weeks, and we'd really appreciate  your prayers. Thank you for all the love and support. We cannot do this without you!
Much love,

Débora
It's a Small World

This teenager had cysts on his knees. He loved skateboarding and could no longer kneel or flex his knees as before. God healed him at the Sunday service in Tremembé in a small country church.

He told us that his dream was to meet a famous skateboarder who lives in Kansas City. Wow, with us being from Kansas City and ministering out here in this small rural community in Brazil, we meet a young man whose dream it is to go to Kansas City and meet his hero. Perhaps one day we can arrange that.

What a small World!
 A Year Gone By

Above Photo:  Pastor's council president introducing the speaker Pastor Paulo.

This past Saturday was the last pastor's monthly coffee of the year. We have been so busy traveling, preaching and ministering elsewhere that we have not had any opportunity this year to get involved with the leaders in our local city.
During the time of worship, I was asking the Lord how we can be effective and encourage the body of Christ in our home city of Indaiatuba?  When the president introduced the morning's speaker (Pastor Paulo) he said this... "It's good to have Pastor Mike and Débora with us today, it was exactly a year ago that they preached the last pastor's breakfast of the year last year (2016) which was held at Pastor Paulo's church facility. Now today, they are here again and this time Pastor Paulo is preaching." He said, the pastors of the city are still talking about that service a year ago and how it impacted their lives.
Wow, here I thought we had not made any impact. It just goes to show you that we never truly know the impact our lives makes on those around us. This was a great encouragement to me personally. Often times I feel that we don't do enough and there's more for us to be doing. Thank you Jesus for the leaders of this fine city and all they do for the Kingdom.
