Ms. Boreland retires this year after 24 years of service

Ms. Ildaura Boreland has served 24 years at Evans High School. Her own children are alumni of Evans and she has continuously poured her passion for teaching into thousands of Trojans that have passed through her Spanish classroom doors. We are so excited for her next chapter that includes traveling and visiting her kids and grandkids!

This Week's Motivational Moment! mm

Evans community footnote: Given the continuing Covid-19 situation and its impact on so many areas of life in general, we felt this piece would be especially helpful to remember despite the new challenges many of our students and community members may face this summer.

LESSON FROM A FARMER

A young man from the city graduated from college with a degree in journalism and got a job at a small-town newspaper. One of his first assignments was to interview an old farmer who lived twenty miles outside of town. As he sat with the grizzled man on his porch, the young journalist looked at this notepad and started asking his questions. One of the first he asked was, "Sir, what time do you go to work in the morning?"

The old farmer chuckled and replied, "Son, I don't go to work. I'm surrounded by it."

Our Trojans can learn a lesson from the old farmer. Opportunities are a lot a like his work. They are everywhere. But the problem is that we often don't have the eyes to see them.

This summer, as you approach each day, look around. Be aware. If you don't see opportunities, remember that it's not because they aren't there. You're always surrounded by them. You simply have to open your eyes and see them. Then act on them.

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR EVANS HIGH SCHOOL CLASS OF 2020!
