A Successful School Start!
Week one of 2017-2018 school is in the history books and it was a great one! The week, we will host our grade level meetings to discuss with students the importance of committing to their own success - in the classroom, on the field, on the court, in the pool, on stage, in competition, and socially among their peers. It is extremely important for our Trojans to set goals for grades and test scores, and work hard to attain those goals with a positive and driven approach. Parents, our team of teachers, administrators and support staff are here to ensure all students succeed at EHS!

EHS Faculty
At EHS we strive to challenge each student to grow in his or her academic abilities and to be college-ready by the end of High school years. Evans High has great teachers who spend hours planning and creating classroom activities to engage our students in learning. Our teachers utilize research-based best practices and analyze academic data to determine current skill levels and to set goals for growth and improvements. We believe that all students will graduate from high school prepared for the demands of post-secondary education, meaningful careers and effective citizenship.

Attendance and Tardies
Attendance is crucial in providing a student with the highest quality of education. Florida legislators have set the framework of compulsory attendance for our students. As a result, Evans High School will begin the process of notifying you on a bi-weekly basis when your child is in violation of compulsory attendance and tardy to class. These notifications will come to you through school messenger, so please listen to them in their entirety as they may include this information or other pertinent disciplinary information. If you have any questions, comments or concerns regarding your child's attendance to school or class, please do not hesitate to contact us here at the school.

Parent Reminders for Week #2
Parents, please take a moment to review the OCPS Code of Conduct with your student. Teachers reviewed these expectations with students this week when they signed the OCPS Student Code of Conduct. We have policies, procedures, and expectations that must be followed to ensure a safe learning environment for all students.

Open House
Parents, please mark your calendar as EHS open house date is set for September 5th. Open house will start promptly at 6:30pm and conclude at 8:15pm. Parents, you will report directly to your son/daughter first period class. We look forward to your arrival as teachers will share detailed information concerning what your son/daughter will learn this year and beyond.

School Website
In the coming days and weeks, our digital support staff will begin updating our school website. In addition, we will include an updated teacher e-mail list, guidance counselor and dean alpha responsibilities administrative and athletic coaching bios as well. Please check it regularly for important information from guidance to sports and school events. Our website address is www.evanshs.ocps.net or contact Mr. Thomas Hames for questions or suggestions at Thomas.Hames@ocps.net

A THORN IN YOUR SIDE?

As you discover your purpose in life and pursue your dreams, you will inevitably spend more and more of your time doing what you enjoy and do best. That's good. You can achieved your dreams only if you focus on your priorities.

But success requires something else: discipline. One of the best ways to improve discipline is to do something you don't enjoy doing - every day. If you learn to do what you must, you will be able to do what you want.

ENJOY YOUR WEEK!
