The Trojan Express
Maynard Evans High School Community Brief
Wednesday, October 12, 2022
Evans Community Member,

Parents, Students and Community Members, we as an Evans High School staff do sincerely hope that you are safe from Hurricane Ian. Please know that if you are in need of resources, please contact The HUB. Evans High School weathered the storm very well and we are thankful that we are able to be back at school.

As we begin this 2nd quarter of the 2022-23 school year, our Trojans will have their first report card issued in two weeks. Please take this opportunity to view your student’s Skyward account for their Quarter 1 grades. I would like to remind all students and parents that we offer tutoring every Tuesday and Thursday from 2:30pm to 3:30pm. Locations are posted in each hallway as well as on Canvas. Attending tutoring can improve your student's grades as well as help them gain knowledge and prepare for future testing. Test scores are vital for graduation and post-secondary plans (both college admissions and scholarship opportunities). We hope that any Evans student needing a little extra help will take advantage of our tutoring opportunities sooner vs. later as we want everyone of our Trojans to perform at their at their very best this year.

This Friday, October 14th we will have our 2022 Fall Sports Senior Night before the Friday night football game against Lake Mary. During halftime, we will present the 2022 Homecoming Court and announce the 2022 Homecoming King and Queen. Due to Hurricane Ian, homecoming events had to be rescheduled: this week is Spirt Week and next Tuesday, October 18th, is our Homecoming Parade. The Homecoming Dance was also rescheduled to Saturday, October 22, here at Evans High School.

As always, thank you for your active involvement in your child's education and your continued support of Evans High School!

In Trojan Pride,

Mrs. Nelson-Warren
Principal

Ten teachers and administrators from Evans took 98 Seniors to the Disney HBCU College Tour at the ESPN Complex. There our students were exposed to over 40 HBCU’s with many receiving college acceptances and scholarships.
