A safe workplace
At Evans Roofing we believe in quality products, superior craftsmanship and a safe and fun workplace. On April 11th, 2013 our managers Fred Burgos and Ricardo Gorni attended the annual OSHA Roofing Industry Fall Protection From A to Z course. This training updates workers on fall-protection systems and includes current OSHA state-plan requirements. Hands-on equipment demonstrations and techniques for self-rescue and relief-of-suspension trauma were offered.
This course is so important considering that is 2011 fatal falls, slips, or trips took the lives of 66 workers. Of those fatalities, about 17% occurred in heights of 10 feet or less. The same 17% occurred from heights of over 30 feet.

Homebuyers and Sellers, Beware of Insurance Requirements
Insurance companies in Florida require a Minimum Life Expectancy on the roof and a Roof Certification will be required.
For that purpose, the roof does not even have to have active leaks but if the roof is “nearing the end of its useful life”, it would be enough for the insurance company to require a roof replacement before a policy is issued.
Homeowners also need to be aware of this insurance requirement as their insurance companies will require roof certifications at the time of policy renewal once the roof reaches a certain age.
Finally, buyers and sellers need to realize that buyers requiring mortgage financing will only obtain financing provided they acquire homeowners insurance.
You see where this is going, leaky roof, no insurance, and no mortgage!

Why Build Your Home with a Metal Roof
Metal roofing is fast becoming a popular option for homeowners for a variety of reasons. In fact, metal roofing has a lot of advantages over other roofing materials. For one, the life of metal roofs is quite long. Metal roofs can last as long as the house itself if installed properly. This type of roof can seal out water, last through strong winds, and keep snow from accumulating on the roof.
Metal roofing is also resistant to fire, mildew, insects, and rot. Clearly, metal roofs offer a lot to the consumer, so it's not surprising why they're becoming more and more popular. And most companies guarantee their products for up to 50 years. Metal roofing materials are very lightweight as well. Because these roofs weigh so little, it's even possible to apply the new roof over 1-2 existing roofs without taking down the old material or installing more structural support.

Old Bill Says: |
As they age, single-ply and built-up roof surfaces eventually exhibit signs of wear such as blistering, bubbling, cracking of the roof membrane, and separation of seams. As with any roofing, flashing wear or damage is also a concern. Once a low-slope or flat roof exhibits excessive wear or damage, the potential for leakage exists.
