It's that time of year again, when performance reviews are brought up. For many of us, we hear about reviews just twice a year, and that's bad. We should be getting feedback about our performance regularly.

  • Nothing in your review should be a surprise. If you get an unexpectedly negative review/rating, reach out to a steward.
  • Reviews are the function of the manager. YOUR manager is the only one who should be reviewing your performance. Reviewing a co-worker's performance is optional. You do not have to participate.
  • Your review is your opportunity to get your side of things in writing. Yes, most often for most people the review is an annoying formality. But it is also your chance to praise yourself, get your version of events down, and have it part of your record. Take the opportunity to get your voice heard.
