Through God’s Eyes

So, from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer.

~2 Corinthians 5:16

From a worldly point of view, there is plenty outside of our church walls to get us in a dark mood: angry, looking for revenge, self righteous, frightened, full of compassion, moved to tears.

When it is the hardest to see how God’s hand is on us, you can be certain God is closest and still in control. Our God has His hand helping those who suffer, who grieve losses, whose future is so uncertain.

I think of Jesus hanging on the cross – His world and message seemingly shattered; and then with the dawn of the third day, a whole new world arose. There are days when our world can feel shattered! Death, a diagnosis that is frightening, divorce. God doesn’t promise that bad things won’t happen to us. He does promise that He is always with us, especially in hard times. He promises us that he works all things together for good, for those who love him, and are called according to his purposes (Romans 8:28).

God is in control, even when it looks like all is lost. Believe it – through any emotions that may try to overwhelm you!
