Title: Climate Response for Engineers

Abstract: This presentation will consider what we can do to understand the present Climate Emergency and participate in the response to Climate Action using system thinking, analytical tools and sustainable practices in our work as Professional Engineers. The presentation will center on the Triple Bottom Line understanding of People, Planet and Prosperity, and how that translates into engineering concepts.

Bio: David O’Longaigh is an Engineering Manager at the City of Portland. He works to bring about sustainable practices, emissions reduction and clean energy efficiency to the City’s Facilities, Fleet and Operations, and implement climate response within City of Portland’s policy and programs. David also believes in the triple bottom line balance of people, planet and prosperity and bringing about a sustainable future where nature and people can thrive together on a regenerated planet.
