Evening Under the Oaks Drive-in
Evening Under the Oaks 2021 was amazing in so many ways! I surprised and touched by being recognized by California Assemblyman Kelly Seyarto and others for my 30 years at Oak Grove Center. Misty Kerrigan and Vice Chair Sonya Linden took me by surprise with what they said and I am so grateful to be part of a great Leadership Team and work alongside a visionary Board who are so dedicated to our mission!

The youth's performances were spectacular with dance, music, and drums. Thanks to the generosity of Chase Bank, Choreographer Kimmie Morrow was brought to campus for Dance Camp, which culminated in a live performance at the event.

All their hard work was rewarded by Supporters seeing and believing how a community can transform lives when we work together. This year, Evening Under the Oaks raised funds to support the Autism and Arts Programs as well as help build a new Secret Garden on campus. Read more about the Secret Garden further in the Newsletter.

Thank you to everyone who attended and those who donated virtually. We appreciate your support and are so grateful to be able to continue our valuable services. A special thank you to Lake Elsinore Storm for their sponsorship and support in creating a fun, unique experience for the guests. Thank you!
The Wiz of OG Debut
The youth-created "The Wiz of OG" debuted at Evening Under the Oaks. It was a new experience to see a video created by Oak Grove youth up on the big screen. Congratulations to our Day and Autism Program Students for their creativity and hard work! A special shout out to Mr. Higgins for his role as OZ and Stacey Dove for making magic on the screen. Proudly brought to you by Chase Bank.

MISTT Awards
MISTT (Most Improved Student Tales of Transformation) recognizes youth who have made significant progress in their treatment and education.

MISTT recognized several deserving youth in April, even being able to keep it a surprise from a couple. Youth are many times rewarded for improvements in peer interactions, school participation and grades, and overall communication. Youth were also recognized for their growth in leadership, an important skill to have as they grow into adults. Congratulations!

Oak Grove would also like to acknowledge Temecula Sunrise Rotary Club for their ongoing MISTT Sponsorship!
Oak Grove Expands Foster Youth Services
In April, Oak Grove Center expanded continuum of care services by merging with Sanctuary Palm Springs, a transitional housing program for LGBTQ+ non-minor-dependent foster youth who are now Young Adults needing additional support.

Second Race Accomplished - Another Goal Met
First, their goal was to run with Tammy twice a week. The Running Club was cool and youth had to earn the opportunity to participate. It was an honor and fun. Soon, the goal became to finish a 5K Race - a first for many. They accomplished this in April. Then, their goal was to go further than any of them had run before - complete a 10K race!

The youth worked hard and accomplished their goal. Congratulations to the Running Club members who trained hard and stuck to their goal to finish their first 10K.

A special thank you to Marty Shea with K2 Executive Coaching whose sponsorship made the runs possible. Thank you Marty!
STEAM Program
It worked! The Solar Smores Ovens were a success. In April, Oak Grove's STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) program created solar ovens for Earth Day. To test their theory, the Students decided to make smores. The project proved successful. It was both fun and delicious!

This program was made possible by San Manuel Band of Mission Indians. Thank you for the support!
Oak Grove's Secret Garden
A vision that started last November, Oak Grove Residential Youth put together a vision board for an idea of a community-building garden. A place where you had to earn the right to enter by being on good behavior, being a good friend, a leader - you obtain entrance by being a positive, productive member of the Oak Grove youth community.

This vision is now becoming a reality thanks to the design of Vicki Bush, Chris Close and financial support from Mr. & Mrs. Bruder, the Coldwell Banker Associated Brokers Realty team, and donors at Evening Under the Oaks including Barbara Goldreyer, Sonya and Richard Linden and Leslie Echolds. THANK YOU for supporting a space for transformation and fun!

More help is needed to make the youth's Garden a reality! If you would like to learn more and see how you can help, contact Kristi Piatkowski.
