Get Ready for The Big Day!
Sleep: Make sure you get to bed at a reasonable time the night before. If applicable you may want to minimize your alcohol intake the evening before the ride.
Breakfast: Have a good breakfast and try to drink additional water to ensure you are well hydrated.
Bike: Perform a quick check on your bike. This includes tire pressure, brakes, wheels rotate freely, crank and chain rotate freely, and wheels are securely fastened to the frame.
Weather: Check the weather before leaving home to help you determine what clothing to wear and what to pack. Consider wind, rain, and temperature.
Clothing: Dress for the weather. Wear a brightly coloured or highly visible top. Don’t forget your helmet, gloves, and sunscreen.
Bike Gear: If you have them, carry the tools you need to repair a flat tire.
Identification: Carry your I.D. and emergency contact information. Bring your phone and remember to put it in a plastic bag in case it rains.
Food & Drink: All routes have rest stops with snacks, water, and washrooms. Don’t forget your water bottle and carry your own snacks if you have specific dietary
needs.
