At the beginning of June, GABC member company Eckert & Ziegler held its 1st Boston Radionuclide Theranostics Forum which was hosted at the Boston offices of Morrison Foerster LLP. GABC was instrumental in supporting the organization of this special half-day Forum which attracted 80 high level executives, scientists and stakeholders from the radiotheranostics industry. Special thanks to Harald Hasselmann who had the vision for this event and who, together with Prof. Herrmann, brought the important stakeholders to Boston.

While BIO 2023 in Boston was all about the future of Life Sciences, we had the exciting opportunity to host, alongside the German Consulate General in Boston, a special Fireside Chat & Reception on the occasion of the Bio International Convention in the historic spaces of the Goethe-Institut in Back Bay:
Sebastian Guth, Bayer’s President of Pharmaceuticals Americas, as well as Fiona Mack, Vice President and Head of Co.Labs at Bayer U.S. in Cambridge, were interviewed by GABC Board member Mridul Agrawal about Bayer’s U.S. plans ("larger footprint", "investments in drug R&D of $1 billion in 2023 alone") and the vision behind Bayer’s newly opened cell and gene therapy incubator in Cambridge. A reception followed the very interesting fireside chat!

Each year, we ring in the summer with a special European-American gathering organized in collaboration with several other European partner organizations. 150 guests joined us on the evening of June 15th on the roof deck of 888 Boylston Street (thanks to host Natixis Investment Managers) for a perfect summer night of networking, drinks & appetizers, spectacular views and a perfect sunset over the Charles River. Happy Summer to all!

Another Metro West Stammtisch!
We know it's not easy for everyone to come into Boston or Cambridge, so we are coming out again for the second Metro West Stammtisch at Jack's Abby in Framingham!
Join us tomorrow if you are living or working in the Metro West area for a summer night of a drink and networking around a beertable (outside in the beer garden depending on the weather!) at Jack's Abby (which prides itself in "German inspired beer and food").
The Stammtisch is open to all members and non-members of all ages. You don't have to RSVP, but it helps us to know who to expect!

Biotechs face challenges as the industry’s annual bash returns to Boston |
Excerpt: "Lab space in the state has nearly doubled, to 56 million square feet, spilling out of Kendall Square in Cambridge into neighboring Boston, Somerville, and Watertown. While still a small share of the state’s overall labor force, its biotech workforce has grown 51 percent to 112,000 employees, many hired at biomanufacturing plants outside Route 128. And the average wage for workers in the sector has ballooned to $200,000, up $40,000 since 2018, though the figure is skewed by the pay packages of high-priced executives."
As Mass. doubles down on life sciences workforce training, will companies take note? |
Excerpt: "Massachusetts and the city of Boston committed a collective $54 million this week to programs designed to train workers for jobs in the state's ever-growing life sciences industry."

Mr. Scholz praised the paper’s effort to combine foreign, domestic and economic priorities, calling it “a big, big change in the way we deal with security issues.” "
