Indigenous Healing Ways for Mental Health event Thursday April 29, 12-2PM
The UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues is currently being held online; sessions are available on UN Web TV, and on Thursday there will be a side event on zoom entitled Indigenous Healing Ways for Mental Health: It’s Time to Spread the Word!

“Indigenous practices for physical and mental healthcare have always been used in their communities and there are now attempts to revive them and promote them in the mainstream. This UNPFII side-event panel will feature young indigenous mental health professionals who will discuss current utilization of traditional healing practices for mental health and research on effectiveness of indigenous treatment outcomes. It will foster dialogue between mainstream and traditional medicine practices, and their integration as the best way forward for mental health care services in general."
Please register for free at indigenoushealing-mentalhealth.eventbrite.com.
A zoom link will be sent to registrants' emails before the event.

Alison Van Dyk, TOU Executive Director, participates on the NGO Committee on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, whose Health Subcommittee has organized this event.
