The Explore Elkin Team will be in Asheville this week for the ReCONNECT Community Forum!

The ReCONNECT NC initiative involves IEI exploring the root causes of disconnection and working with citizens and organizations across the state to identify solutions for restoring civic health. Let’s work together while addressing some of our state’s most pressing issues at six forums over three years.

The Barefoot Movement invites you to join them for their holiday celebration performance. Thomas Rhyant brings his famous Sam Cooke Soul Revue to the Reeves Theater. Rhyant was raised on quartet gospel music, but the first time he heard Sam Cooke and the Soul Stirrers—on his dad’s 8-track cassette player—his own musical aspirations snapped into focus. The sound, the range, and the versatility of Cooke’s voice completely gripped Rhyant. He began working to emulate Cooke’s style, and now performs his Sam Cooke Revue around the country and the world.

Santa Paws Fundraiser for Surry Animal Rescue
Sunday Dec. 2 nd  – 2-4pm

Bring your furry friend for a photo with Santa Paws, our own silly dog version of Santa. Surry Animal Rescue will be here with adoptable dogs and to accept donations to their cause. Donations may includes, dog food, cat food, pet beds, toys, collars, leashes, treats, or anything you think would make these little babies more comfortable while they wait to find their forever homes. Homemade Treats will be available for sale. Photos with Santa Paws will be emailed to participants and are $10.00 each, with all proceeds going to the Surry Animal Rescue.

Elkin, NC Musician Terry Baucom has enjoyed a career in music that started in 1970 with Charlie Moore and continued over the years as a founding member of ground-breaking bands like Boone Creek (with Ricky Skaggs and Jerry Douglas), Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, IIIrd Tyme Out and more. Winner of the 2013 IBMA Recorded Event of the Year for "What'll I Do," Baucom was inducted to the Blue Ridge Music Hall of Fame in 2015. Joey Lemons, Will Jones and Joe Hannabach join him to form the Dukes of Drive.
