Port of Call to Celebrate Healthy Store Makeover
Port of Call, a grocery/ convenience store located on 715 Main Street, recently underwent a store makeover made possible by a Partnerships to Improve Community Health grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Solano Public Health.

The makeover includes adding more fruits and vegetables and healthy snacks, creating a checkout area with these options prominently displayed, taking down advertising for alcohol and tobacco products, and adding health-promoting signs.

"So many people in Suisun City stop by Port of Call Grocery to pick up a snack or an ingredient for a recipe," said Charanjit 'Bobby' Singh, owner of Port of Call Grocery. "I've been wanting to make this healthy change for my customers, who have supported this store for a very long time.  With the community's support for the makeover, I can do even more."

The community is invited to Port of Call for a celebration of these healthy changes on Friday, June 23, 2-5 p.m.  The celebration will feature food demonstrations, community conversations and entertainment.
