Third Sector Managers Forum

(Supper Club)


Thursday September 8, 5 pm

Being a third sector manager can be an isolating, though rewarding role. It is critical that managers and senior officers are able to provide peers support and guidance to each other. Every second month a supper club in Inverness will host a networking evening with guest speakers as appropriate and this will compliment a formal digital session with inputs and training opportunities on a quarterly basis.


A maximum of one person per organisation with management responsibility is eligible to join the forum.

If you would like the opportunity to share and showcase the variety of roles within your organisation and the third Sector, not only to highlight current roles but to let people know about how they might get involved and find out more, then we aim to have 25 stalls and a support area where employability services can provide support and advice.

 

The day will be aimed at anyone interested in exploring a career in the Third Sector from school leavers, graduates to people looking for of a change in direction.

Preparing to Apply for Funding


Thursday August 25,

Do you need help applying for grants? Join this interactive session for third sector organisations. This session is an interactive exploration of what funders want and will cover some of the evidence you should prepare when applying for grants, including community engagement, and measuring outcomes.


Join this two-hour session and learn how to break down some of these challenging tasks. You will have an opportunity to explore community engagement, including how and why we do it. We’ll cover how to convert your engagement into evidence for funders. Then we’ll look at the difference between outcomes and outputs and test out a simple process for defining and measuring outcomes for service participants

Emergency 1st Aid at Work


Wednesday September 21,

9am – 4 pm


This course is suitable for those who work in lower risk workplaces or in higher risk workplaces with lower number of staff and visitors. This is a regulated qualification which meets HSE requirements. Throughout the duration of the course, learners will develop the skills and knowledge to deal with a range of emergency First Aid situations, including: Administering CPR, Using a defibrillator, dealing with wounds and bleeding, minor injuries and more.

Scottish Social Security - An Introduction

Thursday August 18, 9:30 am – 11:30 am


This short course provides an introduction to benefits delivered by Social Security Scotland. It is aimed at advisers and other workers who have little or no knowledge of benefits. It is a practical course, delivered using a combination of trainer presentation, exercises and group discussion. Participants will need a Wi-Fi connection and a suitable device to access the internet.

Transferring to Scottish Adult Disability Payment Webinar

SCOTLAND WEBINAR: HELLO ADP, GOODBYE PIP - TRANSFERRING TO SCOTTISH ADULT DISABILITY PAYMENT

September 13, 1 - 3 pm


From 29 August 2022, existing personal independence payment (PIP) claimants will begin to transfer to adult disability payment (ADP). Children getting child disability payment (CDP) are already transferring to adult disability payment as they approach their 18th birthday. Aimed at people who are already familiar with the PIP rules, this webinar will get you up to speed on how the process will work.

Thriving Families - Digital Peer Support

Thriving Families are currently funded by NHS Highland to provide a digital support service for adult carers of children and young people with additional support needs. We’re trying to reach out to families in a variety of ways to provide support and build peer support networks too. Digital support is co-ordinated by our Family Support Workers (Digital Support) Anna McBride and Trish McQueen (starting in August).

The Rural Social Work Forum is hosting a webinar on 24 August (1-2pm) that will provide an opportunity to learn more about the National Care Service Bill, ask questions, put forward your views, and identify if there are particular implications for rural social workers.


While the Bill is currently a framework, it’s important to hear from the social work profession to help develop a plan for how we want the legislation to take shape.

The Young Women's Movement


Young Women Lead Programme


Recruitment Launching Monday September 5th


Young Women Lead Highland will take place in November 2022 and it is a 6-month leadership

programme run by YWCA Scotland for young women and non-binary people aged 16 – 30. It provides a unique safe space to share their experiences and work together to create real tangible change within their community.

 

The programme will consist of 30 young people under 30 who are living in the Highland council area working together on a community project to enact change within their communities as well as developing friendships, building confidence, and adding to their CV.

ASIST

(Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training)

Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) is a two-day interactive workshop in suicide first aid. ASIST teaches participants to recognise when someone may have thoughts of suicide and work with them to create a plan that will support their immediate safety.

Counselling Skills Certificate

The course provides 120 hours of training towards a level 8 SCQF certificate validated by COSCA (40 SCQF credits). This fun and fast paced course suits all those who are interested in developing self awareness and counselling skills. This is an experiential course with delivery including group activities, media, skills practice and written text. It is ideal if you are in, or considering, employment in a helping role.
