Whitchurch Glass Designs

Whitchurch Glass Designs

From Depths to Dawn, **$450

This captivating 15" x 19" fused glass panel explores the journey from darkness to light. The artwork features a dark blue, water-like background that evokes the mysterious depths of the ocean. From this shadowy abyss, a radiant light emerges, gradually rising and expanding as it moves upward, symbolizing hope and renewal. The light ascends towards a distant sun, casting a warm glow that contrasts with the cool, deep tones below. This visual narrative captures the essence of transformation, illustrating the transition from obscurity to brilliance as the light reaches toward the promise of a new day.

This and many more of Cynthia’s creations are available online at www.WhitchurchGlassDesigns.com or at the Red Door (both locations), in Brentwood.

Lily's Whim

Lily's Whim

As a professional photographer and a multi faceted artist, Lily Dong will be participating in the 2024 Lafayette Art & Wine, sharing her Alcohol Ink artwork.

"I believe everyone is creative, but it doesn't always manifest unless we are inspired. When I see something beautiful, I feel inspired, and this new medium using alcohol instead of water, moves the colored inks in a way that is very fluid. When I sit down to create, I become immersed and lose track of time!

"In my first career, after receiving my BFA from California College of Arts, I was a couture bridal gown designer for twelve years. I've been specializing in distinctive business headshots for the last 14 years, but in my spare time, I'm also pursuing hobbies that allow me to express creativity. Having so much fun at my work and hobby, I don't feel like I've worked a day in my life.

I look forward to sharing my art work with you, come visit me at booth #904 in the Artists' Alley on 9/21 & 22!"

International Film Showcase

September Film Screening of Close Your Eyes

International Film Showcase is so excited for our September screening of Close Your Eyes that will run from September 13th to September 19th. Check out our website for more information! Contact the Orinda Theatre for tickets and screening times.

Synopsis: Víctor Erice, Spain’s greatest living filmmaker returns with his first feature in 31 years. This is a deeply personal movie, in part about a life devoted to cinema, but also about getting old, kinship, loss and memory. Set in contemporary Madrid, an aging filmmaker named Miguel Garay is called upon to recount his memories of working on his final and still unfinished film, “The Farewell Gaze.” During its production, the lead actor and Miguel’s close friend, Julio Arenas, disappeared without a trace, leaving in his wake a mystery that would haunt the lives of everyone associated with the film. Miguel never directed another project, instead living a quiet life as a writer by the coast. He remained reluctant to unravel the mystery surrounding Julio until approached by an investigative television program reviving the case decades later. With careful reflection, he reconnects with the film’s crew, former lovers, and Julio’s daughter, seeking closure for the disappearance and what it meant for all of their lives.

The Park Theater Trust

The Park Theater Trust

Any Ted Lasso fans out there? If so, you’ll certainly recognize the banner now adorning the Park Theater marquee and smile at the message it conveyed to that lovable gang of footballers who, despite so many odds, overcame every one of them to emerge as true winners in the end. Well, the all-volunteer, nonprofit Park Theater Trust also continues to BELIEVE in its mission to light up the Park once more for Lafayette, Lamorinda, and the entire East Bay and it appears many of you do as well because, thanks to you, TPTT has PASSED $8 MILLION in its overall $12 million campaign to protect and revitalize the Park Theater!

Be sure to check out TPTT’s continued progress on its thermometer graphic in front of the Park (courtesy of Minuteman Press, who also BELIEVES!), along with the prominently displayed Donor Honor Roll posters. In addition to raising $1,048,271 from our wonderful community in 2023, a second local family very generously donated $1 million in early 2024. TPTT was also the recipient of a very successful fundraiser recently hosted by long-time TPTT supporter Leila Douglah and Douglah Designs, which brought in over $100,000!

TPTT continues huge forward progress with its design team led by Arcsine Architecture, and plans to initiate the permitting process with the city of Lafayette in just a few weeks.

Don’t ever stop BELIEVING!! Please visit www.parktheatertrust.org for more information, including renovation renderings and how to donate to this community-wide initiative.
