United Women in Faith invite young women to apply for grant to study abroad - Deadline to apply: Tuesday, July 9

 

NEW YORK — Lay women ages 21 to 35 who wish to travel and study abroad are invited to apply for the Theressa Hoover Community Service and Global Citizenship Award. Applications will be accepted until July 9. Priority will be given to projects involving climate or racial justice.

(New) Center Brunswick UMC announces Keyes Scholarship Winner


Center Brunswick UMC is pleased to announce the 2024 Harold and Mabel Keyes Scholarship Award. This year’s recipient is Colin Skaarup, a graduating senior from Tamarac High School. This award is provided by a gift from the Harold and Mabel Keyes estate. Mrs. Keyes taught in the Brunswick Schools and through this award her love of helping young people learn and grow continues to reach youth of our community. Strawberry Fest, today, Saturday, July 6, Community UMC of Chestertown

  

The Community United Methodist Church of Chestertown will host its annual Strawberry Fest on Saturday, July 6, from 9 AM to 2 PM, held on the grounds next to the church at 11 Church St. in Chestertown. Food includes pies and other baked goods, and a lunch option which includes the wildly popular cowboy beans, homemade sauerkraut, relish, hot dogs, and of course, strawberry shortcake, sundaes and milkshakes. A wide assortment of goods are available for purchase including books, puzzles, games, jewelry, vintage collectibles, and household goods. A silent auction for baskets of goodies is held.

 

Aldersgate Camp hosts Family Life Weekend, July 12-14


Each year Aldersgate Camp and Retreat Center, Greig, NY, hosts Family Life Weekend. Moms, Dads, kids, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and family friends are all welcome! Together we enjoy swimming, boating, relaxing, square dancing, singing, fellowship, campfires and more. “Growing Up in Christ: God’s Gracious Invitation to a Life of Spiritual Maturity” is the topic Rev. Edinburg Days, Saturday, July 13, Edinburg UMC


We are blessed to welcome live entertainment by Rustic Chill from Noon to 2:30 PM for the second year. Admission is free. The town will also have many activities. Our women's group will be selling hamburgers and refreshments, and we will have our indoor yard sale from 10 AM to 2 PM. Stop by to tour our historic church and meet us! VBS at Calvary Latham week of July 15


Calvary UMC in Latham invites children to its Camp Firelight Vacation Bible School from 5:30 PM to 8 PM the week of July 15 through July 19 (Monday through Friday). The event is free, and a free dinner is provided each day. The church is located at 15 Ridge Place, Latham. Children going into Kindergarten through Grade 6 are welcome!

Summer 2024 Midday Concert Series, every other Wednesday, July 17 through Aug. 28, Essex Community Church


The Essex Community Church, 2306 Lakeshore Rd., Essex presents its 2024 Midday Concert Series, with concerts on Wednesdays through Aug. 28. All concerts begin at 11:30 AM. There is a suggested donation of $10 per person. The concert on July 17 features William Ogmundson, pianist and composer, playing contemporary and jazz piano pieces. District Day: Informed to Transform, Saturday, Sept. 28,

Saratoga Springs UMC


We are happy to announce that we will be hosting another District Day on Saturday, Sept. 28 at the Saratoga Springs UMC. Once again, we will offer up to 20 workshops on a variety of topics, facilitated by pastors, laity and community leaders. The day will begin around 9 AM with worship, followed by a series of three 75-minute workshops, with lunch provided. The day will conclude around 3 PM with closing worship. If you haven't experienced a District Day, we hope you will consider attending this year! It's a wonderful time to share fellowship and to learn and grow in mind and Spirit!


Travel to Africa University with UNY: February 2025

 

United Methodists of Upper New York have the opportunity to travel across the world to visit Africa University (AU) in Zimbabwe next year. The 10-day trip allows travelers to meet with students and witness a class in progress while learning about Africa and its culture.

Travel with Bishop Héctor, Dr. Roger and Mrs. Claudia Ellis, and others from UNY from Feb. 12-21, 2025. AU is a ministry of The United Methodist Church, and the UNY pilgrimage is your opportunity to see and experience the faithfulness of United Methodists and others.
