March 18 Hang A Quilt Day with the Mattoon Arts Council

  • Celebrate National Quilt Day AND Women’s History Month. Read more about it: https://nationaltoday.com/national-quilting-day. Hang a quilt on fences, from a tree branch, across the front door, etc. Then, photograph the quilt, send photos to email: arts@mattoonillinois.org (within 7 days of March 25)The Arts Coordinator will put them in a photo album on the Mattoon Arts Council’s Facebook for all to view and commemorate.


March 18 Whiteside Garden Spring Workday 9-11am

  • Join this Saturday morning to get the Whiteside Garden ready for spring season. Activities will include garden clean-up tasks, weeding, maintenance, and more. March 18 EIASE DHH Spring Fling Fundraiser, Mattoon Eagles

  • This fundraiser has as variety of amazing silent auction baskets to bid on, raffle items to win, and great shopping at vendor booths and concessions. During the Spring Fling Bazaar the students raise money for Special Olympics, field trips, technology, classroom materials, and professional development. Students organize the silent auction and raffle baskets, work the concession, sell raffle tickets, as well as work as host/hostesses as individuals arrive. Fundraiser is at the Mattoon Eagles Club this Saturday from 9am-3pm.



March 18 Lincoln Log Cabin Wool Applique Workshop

  • Loom Hall artisan Peggy Taylor will be leading this workshop where participants learn the art of wool applique while creating a pinkeep or sachet using wool fabric, embroidery floss, and buttons. The heart design is inspired by 18th-century examples, and combines simple stitches with layered applique. Beginner level through advanced welcome, and each student is welcome to bring vintage buttons to embellish their applique heart. All supplies, and refreshments will be provided.
