Digital Health Investigator Award Applications Due Today
The deadline to submit applications to the inaugural Lurie Children’s Digital Health Investigator Award, which recognizes academic pursuits related to digital health tools, is today, January 31.

Awards will support digital health projects, such as telehealth, e-visits, remote patient monitoring, decision trees, MyChart functionalities, and open scheduling, that are achievable within 6 months. Conflict of Interest (COI) Disclosure Survey Launches Tomorrow

The annual Conflict of Interest Survey for research at Lurie Children’s Hospital will launch Tomorrow, Tuesday, February 1. You will receive a link to the survey and login instructions if you are subject to one or more policy regarding conflicts of interest and business integrity. For Manne Research Institute investigators, this includes requirements to disclose certain external financial relationships as required by federal and institutional policies if responsible for the design, conduct, or reporting of research or sponsored programs.

The survey will guide you to identify and disclose significant financial interests that reasonably appear to be related to your Institutional Responsibilities. Examples include certain remuneration and equity interests from publicly and non-publicly traded companies, intellectual property interests, and sponsored travel. Disclosures are reviewed to assess if a financial conflict of interest that requires management exists. A financial conflict of interest is a significant financial interest that could directly and significantly affect the design, conduct, or reporting of research or sponsored program regardless of sponsoring agency.

As a reminder, new significant financial interests must be disclosed on an ongoing basis within 30 days of discovering or acquiring the interest. Additional details can be found in Lurie Children’s Policy on Financial Conflicts of Interest in Research and Sponsored Programs.

If you have questions regarding your financial interest disclosures in research, or the review and management process, please contact the Office of Research Integrity and Compliance (ORIC) at 312-503-7110 or researchcoi@luriechildrens.org
Important Changeover Deadlines for Transition to Workday
As the Research Business Office prepares for the launch of Workday and continues the work on the organization-wide At Hand transformation, we need to limit or stop updates to some of the legacy systems to ensure data can be transferred from systems such as Infor-Lawson and ImageNow into Workday. The RBO will be issuing further changeover memos and reminders as we approach the April Go Live date.

New Cost Centers Requests Stopped January 28
Clarification: This does not apply to funds or grants, only operating cost centers. Funds/Grants will continue to be opened on Lawson through mid-March. More information will be provided as that date approaches.

Expense Report Submissions in ImageNow: Submit by February 4
To close our current system and change over to Workday for expense reporting, please be aware of the following deadlines:

  • February 4: Deadline to submit all expense reimbursement requests with all supporting documentation for processing
  • February 25: Final date for leaders to complete all expense approvals in ImageNow
  • March 3: Final approved reimbursements to payroll for payment processing in March before April Go Live of At Hand and the Workday system
  • Final payroll pay dates to include expense reimbursements:
  • Medical Center (non-physician groups): March 31
  • PFF: March 18
  • LCSF: March 25
  • CPAA: March 31

To make this period easier for those who are incurring expenses and those awaiting reimbursement, please note:

  • The 60-day period for submitting expenses will be extended; if you cannot get expenses in before February 4, you will be able to enter them in Workday for reimbursement after the April Go-Live date.
  • If you are scheduled for travel during the expense-filling blackout periods (February 4 through early April Go Live), please use Uniglobe and the recommended travel booking procedures for all bookings to avoid incurring large personal expenses.

Please follow this link to more detailed information regarding the Workday transformation.
