Research Technician I (Finer Lab)

The Gal Finer lab is seeking a Research Technician I. The Finer lab studies congenital anomalies of the kidney and urinary tract (CAKUT). CAKUT is the leading cause of renal failure in children worldwide. Understanding what causes CAKUT is a necessary first step to devising regenerative solutions to chronic kidney disease. Dr. Finer's research focuses on studying the molecular mechanisms that lead to CAKUT, particularly, how renal progenitor cells differentiate to specific cell types that constitute the normal kidney.

The current research project is focused on the kidney stroma, which plays multiple important roles in kidney development. However, it is unclear how the renal stroma orchestrates its various functions. Dr. Finer’s lab has recently shown that the transcription factor Tcf21 plays a critical role in formation of the kidney stroma. The project aims to understand signals essential for normal kidney development as part of a global effort to devise regenerative solutions for kidney diseases. Learn more or apply.

Reminder: Work with OSP on All External Funding Proposals

Those interested in submitting external funding applications should work with a designated OSP team member. If you need assistance connecting with your team member, contact [email protected].

OSP Reminders for NIH Proposal February and March Deadlines

The Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) is currently planning for the NIH proposal deadlines in February and March. Staff are reminded of the 10- and 2-day proposal review and submission policy. Additionally, to help with your planning, you are encouraged to review the matrix of the Scientific Peer Review (SPR) and OSP deadlines based on the standing NIH due dates.

Finally, with a large number of proposals already in the queue, it is imperative that you alert OSP immediately as new proposal plans develop. It is especially important in situations where Lurie Children’s will be acting as a sub to another institution’s prime proposal. This will help provide you with the best service possible for your submission needs.
