Dear Friend and Neighbor,
This week we have several interesting and exciting events coming up that I hope you can participate in.
On Wednesday evening, please join me as our community hosts NYS Comptroller Tom DiNapoli for his annual Hispanic Heritage Month celebration. Comptroller DiNapoli will honor several of our community's own leaders including Senator Adriano Espaillat, Judge Rolando Acosta and NYS Board of Regents Chair Dr. Betty Rosa. This event will take place
at the Alianza Dominicana Triangle Building at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, October 5th:
On Thursday morning, I will chair a hearing of the Transportation Committee at the City Council focused on improving MTA buses and bus service citywide. As we are always looking for opportunities to improve transit and transit access across the city, this is an excellent opportunity to hear about and even testify on how we can improve bus service across the city. The hearing will take place
at 10:00 AM in the Council Chambers at City Hall. I will also join a number of transit advocates at a press conference at
9:15 AM right outside City Hall, where we will call for key changes to improve bus service, including faster travel times, how we can better incorporate technology and data into services, and more. You are welcome to join us! If you can't make it, feel free to share your story about your local buses here:

This hearing is related to the recent report put out by a coalition of transit organizations in New York City, who have joined to take part in the "Bus Turnaround Campaign." You can find the full report here:

Please feel free to reach out to my office if you are looking for more information about these events. You can email my Chief of Staff Russell Murphy at rmurphy2@council.nyc.gov with any questions.
Thank you and I look forward to seeing you soon!
