Message from Principal Hamilton

Dear Everest Parents,

As we celebrate another Teacher Appreciation Week, I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to our incredible Everest teachers! Their hard work and commitment to our school and to their vocation as educators are truly the heart of our community.

I also thank the Parents Association for providing a special Chipotle lunch and treats. Your love and support also play a vital role in building up our community and making our teachers feel truly valued.

And to our students - thank you for your lovely notes and cards of appreciation! Be assured, your teachers are touched by your kind words. During assembly, Fr. Andrew led our students in praying for our teachers, asking for continued blessing on their work. And thanks to the generosity of Monica Roberts, the appreciation continued after school yesterday, as our teachers enjoyed a well-deserved social gathering at The Club Lemont.

Congratulations to our newest Knight of the Altar: Nik Motisi. Before the entire school, Nik made a beautiful promise to be a faithful friend of Jesus and to help others come to know him. Thank you to Fr. Andrew for your guidance in preparing Nik for his important new role.

Please join me in congratulating our students who made their First Holy Communion this past Saturday. Thank you to Ms. DeRoche, Fr. Andrew, and Our Mother of Good Counsel for making this sacred milestone such a memorable and joyful occasion for our second graders.

Congratulations as well to our newest Knights of Virtue! These students are being recognized for demonstrating the virtue of LOVE FOR GOD - the strength to love God above all things, seek His will in everything, and cultivate a personal relationship with Him. Thank you to these students for being inspiring examples of what it means to always put God first!

One of the most beautiful ways we express our love for God is through pilgrimage. This past Tuesday, our students and teachers enjoyed a meaningful school pilgrimage to the Carmelite Monastery in Munster, Indiana. The students were captivated by the beautiful grounds, especially the caves and grottos crafted from stones gathered from all over the world.

After our visit, we learned that 30 years ago, the founding families also made a pilgrimage to this very place to pray for God’s blessing upon their new endeavor. How fitting that, during our 30th anniversary year, our school community returned to the same sacred place in prayer and gratitude!

Many of your children asked me to share the address so you could visit with your families this summer. Click here for the website. It is a peaceful place for reflection, and I highly encourage a visit! See my Principal Pics below for photos.

As we began our Spring MAP Testing, I would like to offer a few reminders to help our students perform their best:

  • Please help your child(ren) to get a good night’s rest and eat a healthy breakfast.
  • Encourage your child to try their best - their effort is what matters most!
  • If your child is absent on the day of testing, I will contact you to schedule a makeup test, which will be held before school at 7:00 am so that class time and recess are not missed.

Lastly, I am looking forward to seeing our moms tomorrow at our Mothers’ Tribute. Please plan to arrive by 1:00 pm. We will gather in the gym before the Pope Day procession begins.

Please save the date for our Spring Showcase on Wednesday, May 20th at 6:30 pm. Student work in art and music will be highlighted. I am looking forward to celebrating the many talents of our students together as a school community.

Rejoicing in gratitude for God's blessings,

Candy Hamilton

Thirty years ago, the families who founded Everest Academy made a pilgrimage to the same Carmelite monastery that we visited on Tuesday. How fitting that this place was chosen to mark our 30th anniversary year! From stunning grottos to quiet moments of reflection, it was a beautiful way to show our love for God and a reminder of God’s love for us.
