EVERY FAMILY, EVERY DAY NEWSLETTER
Diversity & Engagement
This year, we had a very large group of people attend a 2-day Beyond Diversity training. Police Chief Steffes and nine other Sun Prairie Police Department staff as well as School Board members and our staff participated in the two day training. We hosted this event in conjunction with the Pacific Educational Group, partners in our equity work.
Our District Administration is currently engaging in a Book Study reading the book How to be an Antiracist by Ibram X. Kendi. We are learning and growing as a team.
Meet our new Community School Coordinator for Northside Elementary

My name is Tenisha Winn. I am the new Community School Coordinator for Northside Elementary. Just a little bit about myself. I have worked within the Racine Unified School District for eight years. I began as a youth mentor/ advocate at Starbuck Middle School. After five years I resigned and became the program coordinator for the Racine Family YMCA Young Leaders Academy. During this time at the YMCA, I facilitated a program called PREP. PREP stands for Personal Responsibility Education Program. This program is geared toward middle school and high school students. One of the facets of the program is Sex Education which I facilitated at Case High School for a semester. I went back to RUSD in August of 2019 and began my work as a Community School Specialist at Knapp Elementary. Working as a Community School Coordinator is my calling. Having the ability to positively impact the lives of others, lets me know I am walking, living, and working in my purpose. I know I was made for this work. I have been where a lot of our families are and can closely relate to their trials and tribulations. I am very compassionate, heartfelt, full of positivity, joy, and love. I am a motivator, encourager, and faith-filled. These are traits I am proud to embody. I look forward to this new journey, in a new place, surrounded by new people. I am so grateful to be a part of the Sun Prairie family.

Secondary Boundary and Bell Task Force Update

The Secondary Boundary and Bell Task Force began meeting in September. This is a citizen based group consisting of district residents serving in an advisory capacity to the School Board. The Task Force has been tasked with the following:

  • Review data and create and present a recommendation for School Board consideration, deliberation, and subsequent action for enrollment boundaries that will be effective September 1, 2022 after the district completes referendum projects that add an additional high school and an additional middle school.

  • Conduct a bell time study by reviewing bell times at the elementary, middle, and high school levels for any adjustments that may be advantageous for operational, student behavioral, safety and/or fiscal reasons.

You can follow along with the progress of the Task Force on the website. This includes meeting dates, agendas, recordings of the presentations, and meeting minutes. You can also live stream the meetings on Kids4 or KSUN.
Bank of Sun Prairie Stadium at Ashley Field

We recently entered into a partnership with the Bank of Sun Prairie for the naming rights of the new multipurpose stadium at Ashley Field. The facility will host football, lacrosse, soccer, Sound of Sun Prairie, and other community events.

The ADA accessible stadium includes seating for 4,075. The home side has seating for 2,098, and the visitor side has seating for 1,977.

The community’s investment in this project will provide learning opportunities for students outside the classroom and will bring unique opportunities to host other community-type events in the space.

A grand opening will be held for the community when it is safe to do so.
