Home in Parks

Meet John and Martha, who moved to Tacoma nine years ago and quickly found a sense of home in the city’s parks. The trails, trees, and daily surprises of places like Point Defiance became part of their routine, and over time, they chose to give back to help keep these spaces thriving.

“If I am benefiting from it, I want to support it however I can,” Martha says. Their story reflects how community giving strengthens the parks, programs, and natural spaces that shape daily life in Tacoma.

Read what inspires their generosity and how gifts to the Innovation Fund help sustain the parks they love.

Help Us Meet Our Goal

Every bench installed, every after-school program running, every light that clicks on at dusk, your giving makes it possible. As we head into a new year, the Foundation is raising $30,000 in flexible funding to move quickly when Tacoma’s parks and programs need it most. We’re close, but we need your help to cross the finish line.

Can you make a year-end gift today to keep this momentum going?

Thank you for believing in what parks make possible.
