EWDC recruits, prepares and places volunteer mentors, serving more than 600 students at 11 local public elementary schools in the District of Columbia and Arlington, VA. Every week throughout the school year, the volunteer mentors read one-on-one with students, helping to improve reading proficiency, vocabulary, and comprehension.
Mark D. Young, Chairman of the EWDC Board of Directors said:

Ms. Hutchinson is no stranger to EWDC and its students, volunteers, and community partners. She currently serves as EWDC’s Director of Programs and led efforts to increase mentor participation.
