Everyday Injustice Newsletter - December 29, 2022

EndofYear image

Our fundraising goal this year is $150,000 to progress criminal justice reform.

This year we raised $123,264, just short of our goal. We can’t do this alone. We need your support to continue our work.

Your donations expose injustices in the criminal legal system by funding a network of reporters and interns across the state who monitor and report on criminal court proceedings. Through your generosity, we highlight wrongful convictions, the inhumane conditions of incarceration, progressive policies and lift the voices of incarcerated and formerly incarcerated.

The Vanguard is committed not only to exposing injustices in the criminal legal system, but also committed to training the next generation of criminal justice advocates, attorneys, and journalists partnering directly with universities.

Here are our current projects that your donations fund and support.

Vanguard Justice Training Program - This is our court watch internship program which trains college and high school interns to put eyes in the courtroom - the front line of the injustice system. Students gain knowledge and experience through a unique opportunity to observe court proceedings

.

Vanguard Incarcerated Press - Just launched in October, this is our prison journalism program where we solicit hard-hitting news and commentary from incarcerated people across the state of California. Articles are found here and distributed to the authors.

Everyday Injustice Podcast Series - Our special half hour segment talking to leaders in criminal justice reform across the nation. Found here.

Vanguard Justice Leader Program - A new program we are launching next spring with a full day training for students and young folks interested in a career in criminal justice reform.

Vanguard Justice Studios - With a heavy focus on racial justice reform, this is our series of films and documentaries we are launching in conjunction with various partners. Our first film, Dark Ghost Stories - we have released a trailer.

If you could we would greatly appreciate your donations this holiday season.
