Josh and Sharon Henry, pictured to the right, were among the many pizza-lovers who attended the event. Thanks to all who came out to support us!

Vacation is Important for Our Health

More than half of American workers forfeited millions of paid days off in 2017, according to the United States Travel Association. But it seems the the trend may be turning.

For decades, studies have shown specific benefits of taking time off of work to relax and recharge. Vacation time is beneficial for our cardiovascular health, sleep, and overall well-being. It reduces stress, improves productivity, and enhances personal relationships. Even a single, short vacation can have large, positive and immediate effects.

Today many businesses encourage work-life balance, and it may be one reason why American workers reported increases in the number of vacation days they have used over the past 3 years. The average is 17.2 days. To help reluctant workers take the plunge, the Travel Association's Project Time Off published a nine-page guide,  The Power of Vacation Planning last year.
Join members of Chester County's Suicide Prevention Task Force and other community members to see Resilience on August 14. All are welcome to the free screening.
