A Note from our Executive Director

Dear friend,

So much of what I’ve learned since joining IVYP is how invisible our most vulnerable children and families are. I was not aware of how many children in our community are hungry at school. Even though I heard the statistics, it didn’t sink in until I began to look into the faces of the children and families who rely on us – and others – for support.

It’s vital that we make sure that our children are not invisible. April 1 is Census Day. That’s the day when every one must be counted. The Census helps us to know who is part of our community. Participating in the census says we matter.

IVYP is partnering with many other organizations across Santa Barbara County to help educate our community and support them in participating in the census. I hope you’ll join us at Make Goleta Count Day at Jonny Wallis park on Saturday, March 14 .

Staff Spotlight - Agam Maroke

" I like people to know just how much of a community IVYP is because it’s not just a daycare. The work that IVYP does and all the staff look out for everyone that’s connected to IVYP. Not just the families that bring their children here but also their relatives and friends and everyone just tries to help each other out. The community aspect of IVYP is really strong. "

Harvest of the Month

Each month we share a healthy, easy and affordable recipe to try that highlights ingredients you can get at our monthly food distribution on the first Thursday of every month. This month we are highlighting lemon! Lemons are high in heart-healthy vitamin C and several beneficial plant compounds that may lower cholesterol. We love this recipe because it's simple, fresh and packed full of flavor. Healthy tip: Substitute the the chicken with tofu to make this vegan friendly!
