RUTH GOT PUBLISHED

FALL EVENTS ANNOUNCED

ROAD TRIP!

BE SMART & CIVIL

COMMON CONCERNS

AWARENESS * ADVOCACY * ACTION

HOT OFF THE PRESS! The September/ October issues of Response magazine arrived in mailboxes last weekend with a full page article, "Advocating for Racial Justice in Texas," written by Ruth Bowen, our NTC Social Action coordinator. She told all about our Racial Justice Symposium: Disparities in Maternal Health last February. I'm sure the article is now inspiring UWFaith groups across the country. Symposium participants were reminded of their commitment to advocacy when they received their 6 mo. reminder in the mail last week too!

Read all about it! Look for the digital edition on the website soon. Thank you, Ruth!

GREAT IDEAS FOR YOUR FALL PROGRAMS!

If you haven't already, please learn about Abide's mission, midwives and happy families with resources on our 2024 Mission Project webpage. You can do this with your small group or on your own. You can learn a lot in 15 minutes!

Abide in square-white

We chose Abide for our '24 Mission Project because they are improving the disparities in maternal health here in our North Texas community. Your support will help Abide reach more families and improve birth outcomes right here in the DFW area. You can

  • Help provide what Abide needs by shopping online or locally
  • Create hand-made Baby Items: Will you crochet a baby hat?

Bring your items to fall Annual Mtg. Lists & donation form on our website.

DALLAS MORNING NEWS: (7/18/24) "Texas ranks almost dead last in the nation for women's healthcare in the country, research shows"

Lets talk about it

Common Concerns for All of Us

This is an opportunity for individuals and groups to have important and respectful conversations about concerns and values we share. It's time for Texans to talk about reproductive health policy -- but how does one start? Texas Impact has developed the Common Concerns program in collaboration with policy experts, physicians, attorneys, and legislators from both sides of the aisle.

Are you ready to start the conversation? You may participate by leading a Listening Circle or joining a bipartisan discussion. Click to learn more and preview the discussion guide.

Resources to learn new Social Principles

GET TO KNOW NEW SOCIAL PRINCIPLES

The Social Principles reflect the United Methodist response to today’s most pressing social issues. Study resources are now available. Use cards for personal study or to facilitate small group discussions. Explore ways to move from discussion to advocacy, moving faith into action.

YES, WE STILL WANT YOUR ANNUAL REPORT!

Please complete and submit the Annual Report for your local group online or contact your District President. The information is needed before your coming District and Conference Annual Meetings (awards, etc).

NOTE: Contact your District President for a paper form.

LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD

The North Texas Faith Votes event on Sunday, August 18th had many UWFaith members in attendance. Several local UWFaith groups are presenting programs in September to encourage ALL people to vote in the upcoming election. See the list above and attend an event to learn about the importance of using your voice! Questions? Contact Doris Marshall.
