Share the Love on Valentine's Day!
Rebuilding Together Montgomery County relies on a local network of businesses, civic and faith groups, and committed volunteers, who come together for a day of [Re]Building at the home of neighbors who - for whatever reason - have fallen behind on upkeep and now find themselves in unsafe or unhealthy living conditions.

Rebuilding Together Montgomery County provides an array of services that may include the installation of ramps and grab bars, new roofs, hvac, and floors, remediation of mold and other health threats, or the upgrade or replacement of an unsafe kitchen or bathroom.

Our goal is to keep a single mother, family, disabled veteran, or elder safe and healthy in their home. We do it with donated tools and other materials, volunteer time and talent, and with good old-fashioned sweat equity, solid training, and expert oversight. And we do it with the financial support of individuals and corporations who want to give the one thing we all need when life gets complicated - HOPE.

This Valentine's Day, please join us in this lifesaving mission by making a gift to Rebuilding Together Montgomery County. It's local, it's tangible, and it's helping people to pull themselves up and re-join their community.

Thank you Jean Griswold Foundation!
Scot Weeks (RTMC Director of Program Operations), Mark McCaffrey (RTMC Executive Director), Mirza Donegan (CEO of Griswold Home Care Montgomery), and Daniel Studnicky (RTMC Interim Director of Development).

On January 16th the Jean Griswold Foundation presented Rebuilding Together Montgomery County with a generous grant along with a plaque in appreciation of our lifesaving work to help seniors stay in safe and wholesome homes as they age in place. The Jean Griswold Foundation awards grants to nonprofits that provide services to low-income elderly and disabled individuals. Rebuilding Together Montgomery County is delighted to have been chosen to receive this grant to help ensure that our work continues for another 30 years and beyond!

Behind Every Door: A Neighbor's Story
Ms. S is bedridden with health issues. She lives alone and her family is not involved with her care. A friend has visited daily for the past 10 years to check on her, cook for her, and feed her two cats. Noticing the gradual decline in Ms. S's home, this friend sought help from Adventist HealthCare, which referred her to Rebuilding Together Montgomery County.

Upon inspection, Rebuilding Together Montgomery County staff found multiple accessibility challenges and a basement that had flooded and never been cleaned properly - a major health concern. RTMC compiled a list of critical issues and assembled a team of [Re]Builders among our many generous partners.

Rebuilding Together Montgomery County matched Ms. S with a group of volunteers from Hunton Andrews Kurth law firm, JLL Construction, HITT Contracting, and Gensler, design and architects. These community heroes came together to paint, hang drywall, fix electrical problems, and adapt Ms. S's landscaping to provide safer access. Apartment Turnovers, another [Re]Building partner, completed the work, installing new appliances and repairing the kitchen sink. Now that the house is a healthy place for Ms. S to live, RTMC hopes to complete accessibility work to keep it a safe place to live.

Ms. S is grateful for the work that has been completed. And Rebuilding Together Montgomery County is thankful for the generous support of our partners and financial supporters. Without everyone's support of time, talent, or treasure, we could not provide this critical work to help our neighbors - and yours!
