Weekly Update
November 20, 2020
“Give thanks to the Lord for He is good; for His lovingkindness is everlasting.”
Psalm 118:1
Greetings Church Family!
We are entering a season of designated thanksgiving. It is a season when we are directed to pause and purposefully think of all the things for which we are thankful. It is a time when we think of the blessings God has heaped upon us in the past year; blessings of our family, our church family, provision, joy, God’s leading and how He has sustained us during this time. It is a time to be thankful God has been with us even if this past year has been one of heartache, sickness, disease, distress, or pain. Being thankful gives us hope in our God who is with us and for us and wants us to succeed. Being thankful lifts our eyes to see past our circumstance so we can realize how God has been intricately involved in our lives. Being thankful is good for your heart and brings peace to your soul.

My encouragement for you is to make every day a designated day of thanksgiving. Read the rest of Psalm 118 and give thanks to our God!

We are currently in a two-week period of further shut down where more restrictive measures have been employed. Keep with the protocol of sanitary practices and continue to look to the Lord for strength.

Be a Thanksgiving giver,
Mike Wilson

Update
Helen Trautman has transitioned from Skilled Nursing and into an Assisted Living facility, that is about 2 miles from Mike Trautman's home in Tigard. She’s close by, doing well, and starting to settle in just fine. She is slowly, but surely, making progress on getting better from the effects of her stroke. She can stand with assistance, walk a bit with assistance, and is speaking well and though she has some memory issues, she is her usual sweet and talkative kind self!

Her contact information is as follows:

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD
SHOEBOXES

We want to thank everyone who helped FCC in making up 323 shoeboxes for kids around the world. We had five families schedule times to pack this year which turned out great. We had people behind the scenes doing prep work, like making bags to hold school supplies and others helping to fill them with pencils, pens, eraser, sharpener and scissors. There were other projects as well and we thank everyone who did your part.

Drop-off site for shoeboxes is going well. Thank you to everyone who has volunteered to man this.

Megan Lenardson (daughter of Mindy & Rick Lenardson, St. Peters)
and Ethan Hansen (son of Dottie and Nathan Hansen, First Christian)
are very active in Sea Scouts, and the group will be serving the community and raising money this winter by helping folks with outdoor chores.

Sea Scouts on the Job!

Teen members of the SSS Freedom, the BSA Sea Scout unit in The Dalles, are willing, able and happy to help folks in/near town with outdoor chores November - January, such as:
  • Rake leaves
  • Wash cars
  • Clean exterior windows*
  • Shovel snow
  • Help with exterior Christmas decorations*
  • Directed gardening

Donations to support the ship are gratefully accepted in return.

To schedule a time, please call Rymmel Lovell at 541-296-6546
