Weekly Update
November 27, 2020
“Therefore, the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name “Immanuel.”

Isaiah 7:14
Greetings Church Family!
In 735 BC the prophet Isaiah prophesied to the struggling nation of Judah about a child that would change the trajectory of the world forever. Isaiah called this child “Immanuel” 730 years before He was even born!

I have heard it said that all the truths of Christmas can be stated in just three words: “God with us.” We tend to focus our attention at Christmastime on the human birth of Christ. But the greater focus should be on His deity-who He really is- “God with us.” Immanuel means that we are not isolated from a God who sits on some distant throne. He came to be with us. He had human skin and wore human clothes and walked among the people just like everyone else.

Let us celebrate Immanuel in the coming weeks as we talk about hope, peace, joy, love and His coming into the world.

Come Immanuel…God is with us!

Update
Helen Trautman has transitioned from Skilled Nursing and into an Assisted Living facility, that is about 2 miles from Mike Trautman's home in Tigard. She’s close by, doing well, and starting to settle in just fine. She is slowly, but surely, making progress on getting better from the effects of her stroke. She can stand with assistance, walk a bit with assistance, and is speaking well and though she has some memory issues, she is her usual sweet and talkative kind self!

Her contact information is as follows:

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD SHOEBOXES

We made it through our first year of being a Drop-off site for shoeboxes. We learned a lot that will be useful in the future if we are to continue this. When we were approached back in early March, there wasn't Covid-19 and it sounded like an easy thing to do. Becoming a curbside drop-off changed things considerably.  We received a total of 476 shoeboxes from as far away as Grass Valley, Kent, Carson, Goldendale, Lyle, Dufur and The Dalles. We filled 51 cartons with 799 shoeboxes.
We want to thank the following faithful servants who helped: James & Nancy Love, Randy & Claire Sparks, Sarah Smith, Sarah Pickette, Mike & Marilyn Miller, Mike Wilson, Marlene Long, Janny Hall and Jack Cherry. We couldn't have done it without you!
