"Steady As She Goes..."
This past Sunday we talked about being a servant in 1 Corinthians 4:1. The word ‘servant’ literally translated is ‘under-rower’. The picture is that of a ship propelled by oars describing the slaves who rowed the huge Roman galleys (ships) who worked under the command of the captain. This imagery of rowing under authority highlights the concept of service and submission to a higher command. It is understood that Jesus is the captain of our ship.
We have been navigating some important waters in the church these past few months. We have been calling upon God to supply us with the next senior minister that would take over for the next leg of the voyage. It's a big ask but we are convinced that God is able to do exceedingly abundantly even beyond what we pray or ask (Ephesians 3:20,21).
We don't know the outcome, but we do know where our help comes from (Psalm 121:1,2). I just want to encourage each one of you to be praying diligently for what God wants for First Christian Church, both now and for the future. We need to pray and exercise our faith (2 Corinthians 5:7) in these critical waters we are sailing through this season.
“Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen” 1 Timothy 1:17
