ELDERS CORNER
23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, 25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching
This is from Hebrews 10:23-25 and is an important admonition to all of to heed. It is with saddened hearts that we hear polls of how church attendance is shrinking. I saw the following copy and felt that it is worth sharing with you.
“As church attendance numbers fade across the nation and online services become very convenient, it’s important to remember why church attendance for you and your family matters so much.
You cannot serve from your sofa. You cannot have community of faith from your sofa. You cannot experience the power of a roomful of believers worshipping together on your sofa.
Christians are not consumers. We are contributors. We do not watch. We engage. We give. We sacrifice. We encourage. We pray by laying hands on the hurting. We do life together.
The church needs you!
And you need the church!” (copied from Michael Carl)
YOU AND I ARE THE CHURCH!
be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, 20 giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, 21 submitting to one another in the fear of [a] God.
This is from Ephesians 5;18b-21, and it gives us more guidance for gathering together. So let us gather together and worship, praise, learn and enjoy fellowship with one another.
IN THE POWER OF HIS LOVE,
Bob Jewett
