Weekly Update
April 9, 2021
Last Sunday we gathered together to celebrated the resurrection of Jesus. It got me to thinking about what it will be like when Christ returns for us and we will spend eternity with Him. In Revelation chapter 21 verse 4 it says; “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” Can you imagine waking up in the morning and not have a stiff back or sore muscles? What about the pain and crying when you fall down and hurt yourself? Can you imagine never having to deal with the death of a family member or friend?  What about the pain and suffering of Christians around the world enduring hardship for their belief in Jesus? All the things in life that bring us pain, heartache, tears and death will be gone forever when Christ comes back for us and we are renewed in Him.

Be encouraged brothers and sisters for a better life awaits us in heaven with our Lord. Run the race, keep the faith, fight the good fight so that we can say just as Paul says in 2 Timothy chapter 4 verse 8; “Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day and not only to me but also to all who have longed for his appearance.” A better and perfect life with our Lord awaits us dear brothers and sisters. Encourage one another to keep our eyes on Jesus the author and perfecter of our faith. One day we will all be rejoicing in heaven with a renewed body perfected by Christ.

This weekend, April 9-11, Christian Youth in Action (CYIA) is at Camp Morrow for pre-training. Please be in prayer for: the adult leaders - Julie Fritts, Jessica Stinson and Mark Dunagan; the 13 youth from our area including Aivie (one of our Good News Club kids).  Also be in prayer for the other CEF regions - Umatilla and Ponderosa chapters and the kids and adults who will be there as well for pre-training.

Last week the kids learned God's Word is worth more than gold (Psalms 19:10a) and how we should know God's Word so well that we cannot be fooled by "false teachers." We had a scavenger hunt based on clues from the Sermon on the Mount. The last clue lead the kids to gifts of a new Bible (2 received devotionals as they had Bibles).

This week, we have been visited by guests from the "past". Pictured are Nicodemus and Salome (Mike and Marilyn Miller from The Last Days of Jesus) and Jennifer interviewed them about the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus. Our memory verse this week was 1 Corinthians 15:3-6. It is important that the kids understand that Jesus really did suffer and die for our sins, that he was truly dead for three days and then resurrected (risen to life) and appeared to the women, Peter, disciples and over 500 people.

Please continue to pray for wisdom for Jennifer and Joyce as they prepare lessons and activities that guide the kids towards a lifelong relationship with Jesus.

Prayer Walk Challenge

Now that it looks like spring has arrived, grab a prayer partner and start from the church parking lot. Walk and pray through our neighborhood and go as far or as long as you like – whether one block or several miles. Walk a regular route or mix it up. Set a specific day and time to walk and pray each week between March and May, and then just do it!

Need some motivation? Here are five good reasons:
1. To pray for our church neighbors and for eyes to see their needs.
2. To ask God to show us how to reach them with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
3. To connect with the people whom God brings us into contact with in our neighborhood while we are walking.
4. To grow closer to our chosen walking partner as we fellowship together through prayer.
5. To get outside, breathe, and move after being cooped up through this Covid-19 winter.

Sign up in the Fireside Room after the service or call the church office and tell who you will be walking with and on which day of the week. Strap on some comfy walking shoes, hit the sidewalk, and start talking to the Lord!

Thank you for your prayers and continued support of this ministry. It has been a trying year with miscommunication, changing schedules and we appreciate those involved for being flexible and enduring.
ISRAEL 2022
We have an exciting opportunity to participate in a Biblical studies trip to Israel in March of 2022. Registration will be open soon and spots may go very quickly, so don’t delay once it opens! Our next Israel trip meeting is on April 21 at 6:30 in the church basement. We will also have a Zoom option if you can only join electronically. If you want the link, or want information about the trip please contact Sarah Smith at (541)993-9874 or harsie_smith@yahoo.com.
Give Away
We have a few round tables in the Toddler Room to give away. The tops need a bit of repair but are solid tables. They measure 60" across. See Pastor Mike for more information.
