April is National Native Plant Month!

There are so many great ways to celebrate National Native Plant Month in Florida:


April is a great time to start, add to, or refresh your native plant garden and we've got lots of resources to help.


It's also the perfect time to get out and explore spring blooms in natural areas across the state. Not sure where to start? We've got you covered.


Spend some time getting to know our wonderful native pollinators that may be visiting your garden or a natural area near you.
 
 

April 20-26, 2025 is National Volunteer Week, a time to shine a light on the people and causes that inspire us to serve. Here at the Florida Wildflower Foundation, our greatest impact happens when we support grassroots, community-led initiatives. Our dedicated volunteers are on the ground, making wildflower conservation and outreach happen every day. Read on as we celebrate some of the folks doing this incredible work.
 
 

Last call to apply for Seedlings for Schools!


Grow a wildflower garden at your school with this grant program that provides native wildflower seedlings to Florida pre-K through 12th grade schools, giving students a hands-on opportunity to explore pollinators and the ecosystems they support. Applications close on April 30, apply today!

Spring Bloom Report: White wildflowers, full of color


Florida’s native white wildflowers aren’t just pale beauties — they’re a reflection of nature’s full color spectrum. From roadsides to wild landscapes, these flowers bloom at different times across the state, offering a seasonal shift in beauty from south to north. Read more here.

The first full week of May is National Wildflower Week, and this year it's a family affair! We'll be featuring some of our most diverse native wildflower families, exploring their ecological role and relationships to pollinators. UPCOMING EVENTS
 

We are partnering with the Florida Department of Transportation to rescue a population of federally threatened and state-endangered Telephus spurge (Euphorbia telephioides) from a road widening project in Panama City and we need you!


This roadside plant rescue will take place in shifts (8AM-12PM CST and 12PM-4PM CST) over three days on April 29 - May 1.

Join us on Sunday May 4 at 10am EST for a hands-on Pollinator Pot Workshop at Bubbe's Secret Garden in support of Bee City Gainesville. For just $10, you can create your own mini pollinator haven with locally grown wildflowers!

Each year, photographer Jessica Marie Francis hosts family mini-sessions at Terry Zinn's wildflower farm in Alachua and donates a portion of the proceeds to us in support of our mission to protect, connect and expand native wildflower habitat. Botany in Context Webinar Series

a six-part webinar series with Jim Folsom, PhD.


This crash course in basic botany for the beginner will take us on a journey from understanding plant anatomy and physiology to learning how plants are named and the botanical jargon that will demystify plant keys and identification. Dr. Folsom will contextualize it all in Florida native plant communities.
