Nature is not a place to visit. It is home.

Hello Friends and Clients
There is just nothing like summer in the Flathead...a small town parade, fireworks over the lake, and great farmer's markets. It was certainly a week to remember with all the festivities and great fun to see the return of old friends and clients.
Then, last Monday, Team Lang had lots going on at the Bigfork Monday Market. We gave away a retro cooler on wheels, 5 wine picnic packs, a zippered wine tote with picnic wine glasses (the unbreakable kind) and tons of other freebies. Everyone had such a great time, we hope to do it again soon. Living in Bigfork is the best! People are everywhere this summer because they love where we live.
I have included lots of articles about Montana in this newsletter. I hope you will enjoy the reads. So, along that subject, my question to you is...Is it time to down size or up size? Is it time to build your dream home? Is it time to sell and move into town or buy or build in the woods? Our market is very strong. In fact, Kalispell is one of the 10 towns in Montana that is on the national radar for a great place to live! Although, our inventory is still a bit low, we are seeing properties come on the market every day. So whatever your real estate goals, I can help. I'll listen to your wants and needs, and together, we'll set expectations based on current market conditions. Remember, not every buyer is looking for a mortgage and many buyers are looking for a safe and stable place to put their money. This is a time for new and bold thinking.
I am known for walking all the way with my clients, giving them the benefit of my knowledge and experience and I never let them slip. Times may have changed but I have not. I will help you meet your needs. We can and will do it--together. Call me, we'll make it happen.
As ever, Denise

REAL ESATE BY THE NUMBERS
|
|
A note about comparing real estate metrics from one year to another....This can be challenging in a normal housing market due to possible variability in the market. Comparing this year’s numbers to the two ‘unicorn’ years we just experienced is almost worthless. Read here about keeping current now the that ‘unicorns’ have galloped off and the market is getting back to normal.

CERI says... "Pets can mourn the loss of a companion, too."
|
|
Do dogs mourn?
I lost my friend Heidi. I’m not sure why she is gone, but she is gone and my owners talk about her in very sad voices. It is commonly known that dogs do feel happiness, sadness, possessiveness and fear. And we do indeed mourn. We mourn much like our humans. We become depressed and listless. We may have a decreased appetite and decline to play. We may sleep more than usual and sulk. I do notice that I have been sleeping more because I miss my Heidi buddy. I would always hog the dog bed but she would put her big warm body against me and I would feel safe. I miss our play time, too. We got into some crazy mischief together!
Maybe my people can help me overcome my confusion and loneliness. Maybe they will spend extra time with me, play and extra game of fetch or hide treats in my favorite locations around the house to keep me busy while they are gone during the day. I miss my friend Heidi. My people say she is gone over the rainbow. I wish I could visit her there. It sounds like a very pretty place. DENISE'S COOKING CORNER - Salmon Roasted in Butter
Quick, easy and light for Montana summer nights! I paired it with Piper Heidsieck bubbly to celebrate the release of a contingency on a real estate transaction!
|
|
Ingredients
4 tablespoons (½ stick) butter
4 tablespoons minced chervil, parsley or dill
1 salmon fillet, 1½ to 2 pounds
Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
Lemon wedges
Directions
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 475 degrees. Place the butter and half the herb in a roasting pan just large enough to fit the salmon and place it in the oven. Heat about 5 minutes, until the butter melts and the herb begins to sizzle.
Step 2
Add the salmon to the pan, skin side up. Roast 4 minutes. Remove from the oven, then peel the skin off. (If the skin does not lift right off, cook 2 minutes longer.) Sprinkle with salt and pepper and turn the fillet over. Sprinkle with salt and pepper again.
Step 3
Roast 3 to 5 minutes more, depending on the thickness of the fillet and the degree of doneness you prefer. Cut into serving portions, spoon a little of the butter over each and garnish with the remaining herb.
Serve with lemon wedges.

DENISE'S READING CORNER - Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf
|
|
Have you ever known anyone who when telling you a story, their thoughts seem to flow all over the place in an incoherent, disconnected and repetitive manner? It’s like they are comingling a myriad of visual, auditory and subliminal thoughts almost unconsciously. That is called stream of consciousness, a narrative technique coined around 1890 and perfected in the novel, Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf.
The story takes place in only one day, a day in the life of Clarissa Dalloway and includes a multiple of characters’ personal experiences through their interwoven stories. The novel opens with Clarissa preparing for a party with guests who include a World War I damaged veteran who comes to a violent end, a husband, a former lover and an entourage of fascinating guests. The novel has been suggested to be somewhat autobiographical as Virginia Woolf struggled with bouts of mental illness and perhaps impressed that state of mind on her main character, Mrs. Dalloway.
I find this novel has stood the test of time from its publishing in 1925. So many of the themes are surfacing and resurfacing in our current political, emotional and personal environment. If you like a psychological drama as I do, you will love this novel.
