Kids' Orchestra offers a safe, high-quality 
afterschool  MUSIC program based on the pillars of 
music education, mentorship and performance.
Music Education:  Group lessons taught by a professional teaching artists. Music classes: violin, viola, cello, double bass, flute, clarinet, trumpet, percussion, and K-1 Foundations class (offerings vary at each location). 
Kids' Orchestra provides the instrument on loan to each student.

Mentorship: Our consistent mentors and dedicated volunteers work to build relationships and experiences that develop and inspire responsible citizens for Baton Rouge.

Performance: Concerts are twice a year!

Transportation: Schools are paired to encourage new friendships. We take care of the transportation. Pick up your child at their home school at 5 p.m.

21st Century Community Learning Centers
Made possible by a grant from the Louisiana Department of Education
Kids' Orchestra's 21st Century Community Learning Centers expand our afterschool program from 2 days a week to 4 days a week and extend the day until 5:30 p.m.

Students will receive double the music lessons, extra homework help and new academic activities at no additional cost. Just register your child(ren) at a 21st Century location.

Academic: The 21st Century program supports local schools and families with homework assistance, academic enrichment, and test preparation tied to state standards.

Kids' Orchestra Kids' Choir
Directed by children's choir specialists:  Dr. Melissa Brunkan and Mr. Jason Bowers  of the LSU School of Music,  Kids' Choir is an opportunity for a ll 2nd - 6th graders in the Greater Baton Rouge Area. 

Rehearsals are  Monday evenings from 6 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. s tarting September 12th at  BREC's Independence Park Theater - 7800 Independence Blvd.

Kids' Choir costs $20 per semester for new students (free to students enrolled in Kids' Orchestra  instrumental  lessons) and includes a choir t-shirt.

Scholarships Available
Tuition & Scholarship Information:  Kids' Orchestra is a fee-based program that uses a sliding scale tuition model based on family income. The cost of the program is $1,000. Thanks to our donors, all students who apply will receive a base-level scholarship of $400 per year. Proof of income is required for discounted tuition.
