Sept 12, 2017

We live in a complicated world--seemingly getting more complicated every day with new technology, new ways of doing things, new and evolving ways of being in the world. It's just hard to keep up. I imagine that as our brains and consciousness evolve, this newness will continue as it always has. Most of us have learned to compartmentalize what is important to our lives and what is not. As life becomes more complicated, I find myself trying to simplify my surroundings, what I take in through reading, the media, and other non-essentials that do not serve what I am about. So everyday I need to ask myself: What am I about? Well, it's complicated! Some days I seek the excitement of new information or doing things in a different way, other days I need stillness. Some days I want sameness, other days--variety. Maybe that is why we live in a complicated world because we are complicated, ever-changing human beings pressured--nay driven--by evolution itself.
