Act now Free Trial Membership Ends Dec 31st!
Now is the perfect time to join Experience Prince George's! The free trial membership is only good thru Dec. 31st to non- existing member businesses, so act now. During the trial, benefits include - listings on the website, promotional highlights, viewing of packages and customized specials to name a few. Membership begins once membership application is received.

Current members are excluded from the free trial; however dues payment have been extended thru Dec 31st in effort to assist during these challenging times.

Recovery & Reopen
As a part of the updated phase two reopening, residents are still encouraged to exercise caution and use good judgment to keep themselves and others safe. It is important to continue to wash your hands frequently, practice physical distancing (at least 6 feet of distance between yourself and others) and wear a face covering in all indoor and outdoor public locations as well as on public transportation.  
The U.S. travel industry has been following rigorous, industry-wide health and safety guidance in response to the COVID-19 pandemic; developed in close collaboration between medical experts and travel leaders. Since its publication, additional medical research has confirmed our original guidance can effectively prevent the transmission of the virus.
The Purple Line feud between the state and the project’s contractors might have finally come to an end with a $250 million agreement to settle all disputed claims and litigation over cost overruns and project delays.
As the holidays quickly approach, what would normally be a time of joy and excitement for airline travelers has become a time of worry and concern. Requiring Covid-19 test result pre-flights is a concept some airlines are considering.

The Department of Parks & Planning is searching for the most festive homes in Prince George’s County this holiday season. Show your holiday spirit by decorating your home and entering their first annual Holiday Home Decorating Contest. Message @pgparks your photos on Facebook for a chance to win a visa gift card and M-NCPPC prize bag. The photo with the most likes and shares wins. Winners will be announced on Monday, December 21.
Join Prince George's County, Office of Community Relations for a virtual #Kwanzaa celebration with Rollingcrest-Chillum Community Center: A Celebration of Family, Community, and Culture. Enjoy performances by the Malcolm X drummers and dancers. Monday, December 28th.
Entertainment
Ignite your holiday spirit with the nightly lighting of the 56-foot tree and two million twinkling lights in the National Harbor Waterfront District. The tree light show takes place nightly, every half hour from sundown to 9 p.m. until January 1st.
It's been a long year, but we finally made it to the holiday season! The Department of Parks and Recreation is hosting their annual Winter Festival of Lights now through January 1st. Make sure you register in advance and be sure to bring canned goods to donate to local food banks.

Virtual Gingerbread House Contest
Join the Darnell Chance Museum for this special virtual edition of the 21st annual Gingerbread House Contest! They invite you to participate and make this year's Gingerbread Show one to savor December 9th-18.

This year you will be able to take a virtual tour of the gingerbread show online, then vote for your favorite entries as part of the Viewer's Choice Awards.
Sports & Recreation
With the holiday season arriving, the Bowie Baysox are unveiling a pair of holiday ticket packages available for fans to celebrate the festivities and the turn of a new year through December 15th.
Maryland is joining Virginia and D.C. where sports betting has been legalized, as voters passed ballot Question 2. The ballot referendum asked voters if the state should legalize sports betting, stipulating that the revenue generated would be used primarily for funding public education.
Len Bias Added to National Collegiate Hall of Fame
The University of Maryland men's basketball legend Len Bias will finally be inducted into the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame in November 2021.

Prince George's County Represents in 2020 NBA Drafts
Did you catch the 2020 NBA drafts? Well Prince George's had some #PrinceGeorgesProud moments. Congratulations to Largo, Maryland native, Saddiq Bey for being selected 19th overall by the Detroit Pistons! We also want to congratulate Maryland Terrapins, Jalen Smith for being selected 10th overall by the Phoenix Suns.
Food & Beverage
2020 unleashed a whole host of twists and turns for the hospitality industry, challenging the professionals who specialize in bringing people face-to-face. View lessons Wolfgang Puck Catering learned adapting food and beverage service that will continue into 2021.
The opening of Swahili Village Bar and Grill’s new location at 10800 Rhode Island Ave, Beltsville, Maryland; is set to revolutionize the concept of African restaurants both nationally and internationally. A jewel in the works from the groundbreaking in late 2014, the restaurant has been developed with customer satisfaction top on the agenda.
The much-anticipated Pennyroyal Station is officially open and ready for business. The online menu, includes appetizers like truffled potato croquettes, a buttermilk fried chicken sandwich for lunch, and dinner entrees such as winter squash and taleggio cheese lasagna, seared striped bass and slow-roasted suckling pig and an array of other specialty items.
Community Highlights
Young members of the University Christian Church got together to add another way to help families in need with the "Blessing Box”; where people can drop off or pick up food.

Located on the north end of the church property at 6800 Adelphi Road in Hyattsville, the large wood and glass structure has shelves where canned goods, pasta and other non-perishables can be left for families in need.
A Washington Nationals store is the newest retail addition to National Harbor. The store is in the Waterfront District at 150 National Plaza; it sits just below the big National Harbor holiday tree. This is the only Nats Team store outside of Nationals Park.
New Mural Along Route 1
New colorful art scenes along Route 1! The corridor’s latest public art is a creative mural of glyphs next to Streetcar 82 Brewing Co. in Hyattsville by Prince George’s County resident and visual artist Juan Pineda of Criomatic Design.
Bring Joy with a Toy
There will be a toy distribution at Tanger Outlets December 19th 9am - 11am while supplies last. This is a drive up event. All social Distancing protocol will be in effect.
