Neurodivergency includes a wide variation of atypical developmental norms, many of which may be undiagnosed for years. Autism, tourettes, dyslexia, and ADHD are a few of the most common subcategories, although there are many individuals that identify under this umbrella term.

Euromonitor's recent research on the global travel industry shows a sector moving from "rock bottom to rebound." Tourism spending fell by 75 percent in 2020. Travel was one of the first sectors to close and one of the last to reopen and it is still restricted in many destinations around the world.

The first and only LGBT association for the meeting professionals, the LGBT Meeting Professionals Association has grown in the almost four years since it was founded to 2,000 members from 43 countries.

As occupancy levels pick up and hotels prepare for record-breaking quarters in 2022, industry leaders speaking at NYU's 43rd Annual International Hospitality Investment Conference urged hoteliers to get creative with incentivizing employees and make sure they are attracting a sufficient and diverse workforce.

U.S. News & World Report ranks the best hotels in Maryland based on an analysis of industry awards, hotel star ratings and user ratings. Hotels that scored in the top 10 percent of the Best Hotels in USA earned a Gold badge. Hotels that appear after ranked hotels are sorted by hotel class and then by user rating, as provided by TripAdvisor.

Expedia Group Media Solutions: “We’re seeing positive signals continue into the fall.” A report just published follows the survey of 2,200 Americans conducted in collaboration with Morning Consult. Expedia Group Media Solutions finds the majority (58%) of respondents have travel plans during the fall with Millennials in leading (67%) compared to Gen Z (61%), Gen X (53%), and Boomers (53%).

Nigerian artist and art collector Olusanya Ojikutu has amassed the sort of collection an art lover’s dreams are made of. At his home in Bowie, Maryland, works by a score of artists—many of them established and emerging talents from Africa and the African diaspora—fill every available surface. There are sculptures more than a century old and works that tell the stories of specific African histories that also inspire Ojikutu’s own work as an artist.

On a cold November morning in D.C., a group of ninth-graders from Knoxville, Iowa, huddled together on a shady path near the Vietnam Veterans Memorial to listen to Sand Brooks, their guide from EF Educational Tours. The 37-degree forecast did not deter a handful of boys from wearing shorts. About 50 yards behind the tour guide, a group of similar-looking studetns in matching white shirts ascended the steps of the Lincoln Memorial.

Congratulations! Finally! You are finally in there, the pinnacle of college sports, the highest honor in college sports! Hall of Fame, baby; well-deserved and well overdue. Most of all, thank you! Thank you. It was such a treat watching you perform. I grew up loving the Georgetown Hoyas. What can I say, they had the Godfather, John Thompson, Jr. And then, I saw you play the game of basketball. When you hit that game-winner against Chattanooga in the ’83 NCAA Tournament, my life changed, basketball in Prince George’s County, Maryland changed.

The D2SIDA Women’s Basketball Atlantic Region Poll released its latest rankings and the Bowie State women’s basketball team ranked seventh overall after previously being ranked No. 2 prior to the 2021-22 season. Bowie State is one of three programs representing the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) conference. Fayetteville State was voted No. 8 and Johnson C. Smith tied for 10th, respectively.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Bowie State’s Ja’rome Johnson has been named to the DC Touchdown Club Washington Metro College Football Player of the Week Honor Roll announced Tuesday afternoon.
The 6-foot-1 senior quarterback returned from an ankle injury and completed 15-of-31 passes for 244 yards and two second-half touchdowns as the Bulldogs advanced to the NCAA Division II quarterfinals for the first time in school history with a 13-10 win over Newberry.

After running the New Deal Cafe as a contractor for nine years, he and his wife, Maria Almeida, learned that their contract would not be renewed in 2016 just as he won $50,000 on a scratch-off lottery ticket. The two used the winnings to open Cedars of Lebanon the next year, around the corner from the New Deal Cafe and the mini mart where he bought the winning lottery ticket.

We're Getting Krazi with Nomie Hamid and His Virtual X Kitchen in College Park
Nomie's love for food and his community gave him the inspiration to open the Indian, Pakistani, Mexican fusion restaurant we know as Krazi Kebob in 2010. He has since grown his operation to become the Virtual X Kitchen and is one of the best places to eat halal on the Route 1 corridor.

A Maryland high school English teacher who has worked to open up college education for her students has won the $1 million Global Teacher Prize, the Varkey Foundation announced Wednesday.

A new art studio and event space in the historic Berwyn neighborhood of College Park recently opened. Studio 444 offers a variety of art classes on everything from paint-and-sip to cooking and cookie decorating. It also offers private event space for rent with hourly and daily options. The event space includes free parking, a kitchenette, and other amenities including tables and chairs with access to a flat screen TV.
