The US Travel Association, USTA has named Geoff Freeman as President and CEO. Freeman, brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this new position. He previously held the CEO positions with the American Gaming Association and Consumer Brands Association.
A nine-member committee led a nationwide search to identify Freeman. U.S. Travel Association is the national, non-profit organization representing all components of the travel industry. Travelers in the United States are estimated to spend $1.1 trillion in 2022 (still 10% below 2019 levels).

The busy summer travel season is upon us. As airports are becoming more crowed and sometimes overwhelming, The Transportation Security Administration, TSA has a few tips:
- Arrive early to airport
- Remove small items from pockets/have travel documents in hand
- Enroll in TSA precheck

Flight cancellations among US Air carriers have been creating an extremely busy summer travel season. Staffing shortages, fewer flights have caused major delays and cancellations.
Although COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted, chaos continues at airports. According to flight-tracking service, FlightAware, U.S. airlines have canceled more than 21,000 flights, or about 2.7% of the scheduled total since the Memorial Day holiday weekend in May.

As business travel begins to pick up, other issues besides COVID-19 have become concerning. A Business Recovery Poll conducted by Global Business Travel, found that current affairs and the economy have had an affect on travel programs. These include, policies/restrictions, Covid infection rates, staffing shortages, supply chain bottlenecks, inflation and oil prices.
Travel suppliers are not totally pessimistic. More are hopeful now than in previous months. Bookings have also continued to rebound according to PhocusWire.

Fofo de Chao, Silver Diner and It's Sugar will soon open storefronts at National Harbor. These establishments will join about 60 restaurants currently at National Harbor. Fogo de Chao will open a 12,000-square-foot restaurant at 141 National Plaza, while Silver Diner will open a 7,100-square foot restaurant on Waterfront St. in 2023.

Prince George's Memorial Library System has began construction on a new 22,000 square-foot public library. The Bladensburg branch will open in 2024, joining branches including in Hyattsville and Laurel. Two pieces of public art, will be housed at the library. A bowsprit-like sculpture at the entrance to the children’s section and nautical-themed wall art for the interior.
