Liberty Campus now offering eCore exams

Georgia Southern University’s Liberty Campus now offers eCore exams in Hinesville. Brenda Douglas, operations coordinator at the Liberty Campus, used to jump through several tedious hoops to offer eCore exams at Liberty. But that's all changed now.

Students can now see the site when they register for their exam at the Liberty Campus.

eCore courses are awarded by the student’s home institution and are transferable within the USG as well as other regionally accredited institutions. All eCore courses include free and open digital textbooks and resources embedded inside the courses at no cost to the student.

A Message from the Provost

Have you ever looked back on a school year and wondered where it all went? It seems like just yesterday we were preparing for the August New Faculty Orientation, and now we're preparing for Commencement.

This past month, I proudly attended the Quarterman-Keller research presentation, put on by the Gullah Geechee Cultural Heritage Center. Celebrating the scholars at this event was a highlight of my day.

I was fortunate enough to attend both sessions of the Georgia Southern Student Scholars Symposium (GS4) and thoroughly enjoyed interacting with our student scholars as they presented their research. It always feels like a full-circle moment to watch researchers in their early years as they identify their paths forward.

Another spotlight on my calendar for this month was the updated Faculty Celebrations and the improvements made to the Promotion, Tenure and Review recognition. Starting this year, a frameable certificate and gift will be awarded to the class. This is in addition to the Celebrations of Faculty Success reception that we held in the GS Authors' Lounges on both the Statesboro Campus and the Savannah Campus at Armstrong. It's a small token of my appreciation for the work, dedication and achievements of our faculty.

While I didn't attend it in an official capacity, I was delighted to see The Travelin' McCourys play in the Gretsch Museum at District Live! in Savannah this month. The venue is outstanding, and I'm proud that we have such outstanding regional partners. If you haven't been yet, I highly suggest attending a show.

Wrapping up the awards of April, the University Awards for Excellence has turned into a must-attend event for everyone. The faculty and staff honored in this ceremony display all of the qualities it takes to make Georgia Southern rise above the others. I congratulate each and every person and team who was nominated, and I am proud to work with such inspirational people.

As we race to the finish of this academic year, the Excellence in Action Newsletter will take a pause. It will be back in July. Stay safe, stay healthy and, above all, stay successful. Enjoy your summer, Eagle Nation.

Summer Glow Up at the Library

Georgia Southern Libraries is excited to announce our upcoming Summer Glow Up project at Henderson Library on the Statesboro campus! From May 8 to July 28, the first and second floors of the library will be renovated to create an even more beautiful and inspiring space for our students and faculty. The project will involve repainting and refreshing the spaces to create a more welcoming and modern atmosphere.

The third and fourth floors of the library will remain open for general use, and library services will continue to be available throughout the summer. Please check the Summer Glow Up libguide for more details about the project, including a facility map, and to stay up to date on any changes or updates.

The Library understand the importance of providing high-quality facilities for faculty and students and appreciates your patience during this renovation process. The team looks forward to unveiling the refreshed space and hopes it will enhance the experience at Henderson Library.
